So, we've got wireless internet for our PCs and since my Xbox is no longer in the same room as the modem and I haven't saved up enough for the 360 wireless plug-in, does anybody know if I can connect to Live by plugging the 360's ethernet cable into my laptop, and if so, how?

I deleted the post because I think the article is misleading...at the very least the language used is confusing.
It doesn't say that 54% of them get RRoD, it says of all failures, 54% are due to RRoD. And even that is confusing because as I understand it the RRoD is an indicator that something is wrong - the XBox doesn't break because it gets RRoD, it shows a RRoD because it breaks.
Yeah, the one I saw that said 25%+ was from an internal Microsoft memo. I'm trying to find the article again. In all honesty though, the fail rate is really high, everyone I know personally is on a minimum, their 3rd 360 (myself included).

Doesw that only apply to ones that were originally fixed to play HDDVD format? I thought the newer models didn't have that anymore which gave more breathing room for the cooling fan, thus fixing the RRoD heating issues.

The first time I got the Red Ring of Death was when I had lugged my 360 over to my friend's house to play multiplayer Gears of War. We had the scart connection set to 'HDTV' accidentally and it wouldn't turn on for a while, before we realised what we were doing wrong. At some point, I got the Red Ring, but then it randomly started working again, after a while.
The first time my 360 truly failed, it still had the standard store warranty, so I brought it back and they told me that I could either get another one free of charge, or I could pay €50 and upgrade to the cooler-looking Elite and get a free game, so I did this.
Second time it failed, the store warranty had run out and I had to go through the rigamarole of UPSing it off to some Microsoft subsidiary in Germany, who fixed it and sent it back to me with a month's free Gold subscription (that didn't work). All for €10. It's worked perfectly since then, but unfortunately, whatever happened to it when it got the RROD seemingly also burned a huge, circular scratch into my copy of Guitar Hero: World Tour, which is really annoying. I didn't discover this until well after I got my console fixed, so I don't think there's much point in contacting Microsoft about it, now. At some point, I'll rebuy a pre-owned copy of the game.
I don't think I know anyone else who has had to bring their 'Box back.

I don't have mine anymore but I got RRoD once, and I think it was an overheating issue because I left it turned off for a couple of days, thinking I'd need to send it in, and when I turned it on again it was fine and didn't give me any more issues after that.

Hey, I thought Xbox live was going to do away with Microsoft points and start listing all prices in actual currency. Am I missing a setting somewhere? Have they not implemented it yet?
