I generally agree with wyo here, except that I think Gadot did a pretty darn good job. She pulled off the regality, fierce determination, resilience, and wide eyed wonder at the world outside of Themyscira ("dopy mouth agape reaction" which was only evident in the scenes when they first entered London or when seeing the horrors of the war from what I recall) that served the character perfectly. The chemistry between Gal and Pine was great as well.
I also agree that the casting of the DCEU has actually been pretty stellar, it's just the execution (script and otherwise) that is lacking in most cases.
I thought the action scenes were stellar, and really captured what Diana's fighting style should translate to onscreen.
But yeah, Wonder Woman was certainly the best DCEU film to date and was itself a decent film, though I do agree the overwhelming praise is overblown.
Either way, hopefully it causes WB to take notice and stop with the overly-dour approach to their film universe.
