What Do you Read

Well, outside of comics, right now I'm rereading Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency.

I love, P.K. Dick, Lovecraft, Gaiman, Clive Barker, D. Adams and Vonnegut.

I'm currently bidding on a first printing of "At the Mountains of Madness".

Is there truly an author greater than Douglas Adams? I think not.

Right now I'm reading The Invisible Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera, The Ground Beneath Her Feet by Salman Rushdie, and The Pumphouse Gang by Tom Wolfe. The Kundera and Rushdie are so dense I need a breather book in the middle.

Also, I've read Ulysses, but it was during about half of a semester-long, three-days-a-week class, so I had some help.

Don't you mean Unbearable Lightness of Being?

I do. Don't you mean, "I'm a big jerk who goes around correcting people and should pay ZP upwards of 30,000 American dollars in return for committing such a grievous faux pas?"

I would, but it would take the entire GDP of my motherland to cover half of that.

One of my friends really liked Portrait of the Artist As A Young Man, but nobody, not even my dad who loves Irish and Scottish literature, can make it through Ulysses.

Ulysses isn't bad, it's just getting the rhythm (which, an old teach of mine told me, is the equivalent of
the sound of Joyce's heartbeat halfway through his second bottle of whiskey and knee-deep in Nora
) of the prose that can be a pain. After that, it's smooth and delicious sailing. Now, read Finnegans Wake all the way through... that's when you know you've achieved something truly great.

I downloaded last night since all my actual books of it were destroyed a while a go (long story) e-books of Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter books 1-15.

I loved this series http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anita_blake if you have not read them check them out

I'm going to put in everything that's on my shelf now (which are all books I've read or at least read most of), and slowly add the other stacks of books I have laying around.

Also, mole.... Anita Blake? Really?

Edit: and I gotta admit.... I've got a pretty damn sexy bookshelf.

I like it until it descended into paperback pornography. The first 5 or 6 books were really good. Then she got laid and it all went to ****town.

I liked it even after she got laid  Not because it was more sexual content but it changed the series and we got to experience it change with her.

I took all my comics off Shelfari since they were taking over. I'm limiting myself only to books that I own and have finished reading.

Apparently the copies I have of some of my books don't exist. . . I'll look up ISBNs, but I might just have to settle with picking an alternate edition.

My problem was with the massive amount of sexual content. Having characters gettin busy is fine, but the last one I read was about 2/3rds sex. Weird sex. With were-things.

Edward was awesome though.

Oh yeah, and my Shelfari
