Ah, I see what you mean.I dunno... I think him talking to his cat really highlights how pointless his life is. I mean, with Garfield 'shopped out, you can think "Oh, well, it makes sense in context." But Arbuckle really makes you get that this is John's life, and yes, it really is that messed up.
I like the ones drawn in a more realistic style for the same basic reasons, but the style and quality varies a lot and some of them are pretty bad.
