Because They wouldn't enlist Reed before he got his powers. Otherwise he's just another genius at the Baxter Building. Am I wrong? He's top of the genius chain because the powers through him in the spotlight and enabled him to get into situations that showed he can handle crazy *** stuff.
 
I'm reading this stuff about "Robo Transexuals"? A robot can't be a transexual because it's a robot... Unless someone fashioned obvious male genitals AND female breasts, Then I'd be in the corner crying with the rest of you guys...

...Wait, Are you guys just really upset because Vision has been a guy for about 20 years of Marvel history, And is now a girl?

Won me over, And I'm not even a teenage boy. But I still think they did it to avoid the whole Scarlet Witch + Vision thing.

I miss an awful lot of things. There could be a primetime show called robots in love and I'd be none the wiser. I would guess that you have your own well worn copy of Björk's 'all full of love' video then? :)

Who says that even if they didnt make Vision a female, they were going to with that? They don't have to. Like how Lorna has been the girlfriend of Scott THAN Havok, instead of Bobby THAN Havok. Know what I mean?
 
Look, this whole gender debate misses an important point. Is this Vision thing a take on the Silver Surfer? The whole "herald" biz? I didn't mind the way this went down, but I'm interested in thoughts on where SS -- let's face it, Galactus originally was only an excuse to create the melancholy surfer dude-- figures into this.

Nope. Surfer will be appearing in Extinction separately.

Ellis said that he'll be introducing Ultimate Silver Surfer AND The Vision, so they're more than likely not the same person.
