I sent Bass an email letting him know what was going on in the thread and whatnot, and the mighty Mod himself has responded:

Thanks for letting me know, but I can't come back online until I have sent the issue to Nurhachi for approval. I promised you I won't return until then, and I'll keep my word.

As for Doc Comic... the guy disappeared for months because he got pissed of with Jtg and was unable or unwilling to use the ignore list. Now he's back, and he's trying to claim he and others should write #50 because I'm still trying to find time to finish it, even though before #40 appeared I said I knew #50 would "kill me" and take ages to finish?

And what notes is he talking about? Nurhachi got my first draft of my notes, which contained only the barest skeleton of what goes on in the finale. There's a ton of things not mentioned. Someone could write #50. It might be good. It might be better than what I have planned. But the odds of it being anything other than a very slight approximation of what's happening in the issue are slim indeed.

And all this coming from the guy who complained every issue that his UC counterpart wasn't in it? Even though I promised and delivered on a solo-issue focused on him, and written his character into the post-50 UC universe? A guy who's being a total hypocrite? It's wrong of me to tell you all I'm leaving the site until I fulfil my promise to you - that this is 'abandoning' the site, while he just disappeared one day and said nothing? Even though I'm a mod?

I miss Ultimate Central every day. The internet is a dull and lonely place without it. I've been doing what I can to get #50 ready as soon as possible.

I still am.

People are free to e-mail me if you want, but as soon as I hit "Send" and give Nurhachi the #50 prose, I'm back on the site that very day.

And I'm looking forward to it more than anyone else.

So, Doc Comic can disappear again for all I care.

That said, if Nurhachi himself wants to take #50 and write it himself or with others - he can. If the majority of readers want to take #50 away from me - you can.

See... this fanfic is for you guys at Ultimate Central. And I used up every single ounce of patience you guys had for my run a long time ago. The last thing I want to do is kill the fanfic.

If you don't want me to continue on #50, I'll understand. I'll step aside.

But all I can do is this - apologise for my tardiness and pray that you'll all care enough to read the damn thing when I post it. I can only hope that the finale is so good, it energises the next lot of you into writing more stories, because I want to know what happens next.

You can post this on the site if you want.

Honestly? I'll wait through June for it if that is what it takes. If we can wait for the delays on Ultimates 2, we can definitely wait on this...

I can't wait to read it.

Hey. Why isn't the TPB stickied? I think it really is one of the most prominent and unique things we do here at Ultimate Central, and it should be more easily accessable.
 
Wow. Bass sure is dedicated. His e-mail sounds like Mark Millar when he returned after six months.

And I'm guessing this is why Doc Comic is leaving. Tut tut.
