I'll just do a comedy show list and a non-comedy show list, because I can't compare them with each other.

Comedy:

I'm wading through Buffy (currently on season 5), so that one could still move either way. Others I'm planning to watch in the near future that could make the list are Angel, Firefly and Star Trek: Enterprise.

I can't believe I missed this.

This show was the best. My friend would come over and watch it with me every single week. I didn't watch the end of the last season because it changed so much and I lost interest, but the first couple seasons, particularly the first one, were fantastic. I would definately buy a DVD.

Actually, I'm reminded of another great show that also needs to be on DVD. Square Pegs! It was Freaks and Geeks before Freaks and Geeks was.

The most recent episode was hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing when Nicole made it look like Randy was mentally retarted. ("I pooped my pants! I pooped my pants!" :lol: )

the 1st season and 1/2 through the second were the best. and you can't forgot about the teacher taking the kids out wrecked car and firing a gun.
 
I just watched the season two episode of The West Wing where the President *****es out a character based on Dr. Laura... Its one of my favorite moments of the entire series...

Just remembered Daria, and added it to my Animated non Anime top ten:

Top Ten Animated Series of All Time (Excluding Anime)

10. Mission Hill - I'm one of the only people I know who loved this series... but i do, seriously and sincerely love it
9. Clone High - Anyone who has seen this should agree with me. Stupid India had to get it cancelled, but i still love it. Got the DVDs from Canada... Its clever and absurd
8. South Park - Funny as Hell, but only if watched occasionally
7. Powerpuff Girls (the early stuff) - The perfect parody of the Superhero Series... There's a lot of heart, and you have to love the style of the show, and the things it got away with... (Like having an embodiment of The Devil as a villain). I look forward to the first season being released.
6. Futurama - MUCH better than the Simpsons. Always good for a laugh.
5. Invader ZIM - Do I really need to say anything about this show? I got sick of it a while back when some kids i knew were overquoting it, but then I rediscovered it and fell in love
4. Justice League Unlimited - For Season Two's Cadmus Arc.
3. Batman: The Animated Series - While it had its weak points, it redefined batman for my generation, and affected the ongoing series more than any one writer ever has.
2. Daria - I can't believe I forgot this show! This was one of the BEST shows of the Nineties and one of my alltime favorites (it'd be in my top 15 all-time tv shows)
1. Venture Bros. - It's on my real top ten, what would you expect?

Close but no Cigar: Batman Beyond, The Oblongs, The Simpsons, Dexter's Laboratory, The Fairly Oddparents, and the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy.
 
Daria and Mission Hill are both great. I would buy a Daria complete series DVD regardless of price, and Mission Hill should still be on TV.

I've never seen Clone High, but many people mention it. . .
 
Here are some I like:

Peep Show- My favourite comedy right now, it's part way through it's 4th series, but because most british show's only have 6 episodes there is currently less peep show episodes than there are in the first series of scrubs or whatever.

Spaced - Like Shaun of the Dead but in a non-sci-fi sit-com form

Chris Morris - Love all his work but Brasseye and Nathan Barley are the best

Alan Partridge- This was originally a character in The day Today (which i've got on DVD and is hilarious Chris Morris is the man), but went on to have 3 (6 episode) series afterward

Arrested Development - Really shows how much more you can pack into a show if it has no canned laughter

Clerks the animated series - Clerks is filmed by a live studio audience...Big America Party..excellent

Firefly - Miles better than Buffy and Angel IMHO and they're still pretty good.

Push Nevada - I wanna include this in case anyone has seen it. This series got axed for being too wierd. It had a real twin peaks vibe to it and was filmed like insomnia with lots of over exposed film. The plot is a a conspiracy thriller starring a fraud investigator checking the books on a casino..there's a great scene where he just stands in a casino all day watching people play and scribbling in his notebook and works out that the casino is making a loss...curious...

Twin Peaks - If you're liking Orson from desperate housewives right now you should really check this out.

Desperate Housewives- Series 1 and 3 were great, series 2 overall was rubbish but had some of the most outstanding episodes with Bree's family life

Heroes - Great

Lost - Still same as first series...but first series was amazing

That's 12 but who's counting...half of them were too short anyway..maybe i like the ones that got axed more cuz i get to imagine where it could've gone and i get angry that they got axed, though i think Arrested Development and Spaced ended very nicely and it wouldn't've felt right if they continued

It had Zach Braff, Donald Faison and Second Becky from Roseanne on the show as the main characters.

It starred a teenage Abe Lincoln, an ADD Gandhi, and a goth depressed Joan of Arc.

It was brillant.

I've also been comprising a Top 10 Greatest Cartoon list as well.

10 - X-Men --- Overly dramatic and somewhat shoddy animation. But damn if the experience wasn't awesome.
9 - Transformers --- Are you kidding me?!?!? As far as retro cartoons go...this one had it all. A movie. A movie that spawned a spin-off. A spin off that got it's own movie as well (kinda). SOUNDWAVE FTW!
8 - GI Joe --- YO ****ING JOE. For serious.
7 - Cowboy Bebop --- The greatest anime show of all time. Period. Mainly because there was actual story to it that didn't involve some random person wanting to be the best fighter there ever was.
6 - Batman TAS --- Timm's loveletter to DC. After that woo'ing DC was putty in Timm's hands. But seriously...the old stories from that show still stand the test of time and can put a lot of these current shows to shame. The only reason why its as low as it is here is because of the animation. Its obvious that the show was done a while ago and while the animation is still smooth---it's got that aged look on it......especially when compared to JL and JLU.
5 - Simpsons --- The definitive primetime cartoon that spawned 2 spin-offs. Granted nowadays it's just sad and pathetic.....but back in its prime it was the thing to fear and respect. Kinda like Cassius Clay.
4 - Daria --- The cartoon that captured the jaded 90s teen to a T.
3 - Venture Bros --- David Bowie is a shapeshifting bad *** leader of an international organization of supervillains. Oh yeah....and its pop culture/retro jokes are the mad note yo!
2 - Justice League Unlimited --- Much respect to its Timm predecessors....but there is no topping the JLU. Especially during the Cadmus arc. Perfect animation....flawless voice casting....intriguing story that is accessible to young and old.
1 - South Park --- Consistently funny with their brash/in your face timely political satire and mock of pop culture trends and to top it all off---just outright hysterical.
 
I don't claim that these are the 'greatest of all time' but they are definitely my favourite:

What can I say? Masterful animation? Perfect voice-acting?

Well, the show's not as perfect as a lot of people make it out to be, but it is really great.

- Star Trek: The Next Generation

I haven't watched this in a while now, but I went through a Trekkie-phase about two years ago, when I watched it everyday, and a lot of the time, I just couldn't believe how good it was. I just loved the way it made references to previous episodes all the time and often made entire episodes out of events or dialogue that took place years before it. I never had much interest in the plots. It was the characters that drew me in.

- Friends

This is probably just a nostalgia thing. I grew up with this show and I still watch it whenever it's on. My favourite character was Ross, who was also probably the main character of the show (most of the main plots of the show revolved around him as the central character). It got really shabby towards the end, and I could have written a lot of the jokes myself, but it is still great to watch.

- Two and a Half Men

It's such a mysognistic, sexist show, but I love it all the same. Charlie Sheen's comic genius.

Heroes

- Nathan flying was probably one of the coolest things I've ever seen in live-action, on television.

Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman

- Easily the best Superman show ever, especially during the first season (and a lot of the second). It focused more on the characters than the legend and just continued to excel. It got really lovey-dovey and silly in the third and fourth series, not to mention, Superman just became invincible, but it was still great. John Shea was the best Lex Luthor ever.
