I don't think that would have worked with the story or the character.

Maybe not, but neither did the bone marrow drills.

I agree Cap. I also like the first 2/3's of the movie. And I agree, it should have ended after the Harada fight. Maybe he could have worn non robotic Silver Samurai armor. It didn't need the whole extra bit with the Silver Samurai robot/cyborg thing. And Viper was a pointless character. This movie COULD have been pretty good but during the 3rd act it really barfed on itself.

I would have liked Harada (Ninja Hawkeye) built up more as a character. Wolverine is the Ronin, Harada is a samurai who will do anything for his master. He loves Mariko and has been protecting her from the shadows the whole movie, making Wolverine look good (which is really what happened). When Mariko falls in love with Wolverine, that could have lead to a role reversal where Wolverine has a new purpose and Harada loses his, leading to a fight between Wolverine and Harada in indestructible adamantium armor.

And actually, the plot with the Yakuza should have been built up more and maybe revealed that Viper (but not movie Viper, Viper from the comics) was actually behind it, manipulating Shingen (Mariko's dad) and the fiancée and trying to take over the Yashida clan. In the end, she kills them both and we find out that the black clan ninjas are really working for her and they turn on Mariko as the last heir of the Yashida family. This causes Harada to team up with Wolverine to protect her and we get a Wolverine/Silver Samurai team up against a bunch of ninjas, ending with Harada sacrificing himself for Mariko.

Yeah I would have been fine with all that. That whole last bit with the SS and the claws and all. Ugh! The whole thing needed to be about 20-25 minutes shorter.

So does this mean Wolverine will have bone claws for DoFP?

I didn't mind the length. Just what happened at the end. I actually was thinking, "what happened to this movie?"

yeah, it looks like he will.

It wasn't the length in terms of actual time (although it was long) it was the length of time it went on after it should have ended. I was thinking, "this movie needed to end before all this bollocks." If it had ended 20-30 minutes earlier after the fights with Harada and Shingen I would have left happy.

Oh, okay. Well, i think there needed to be a more important finale than that, but I probably would have preferred that over what we got.

I'm complaining a lot, but I actually REALLY liked this movie. Did I mention that?

Lol! Maybe. I didn't dislike it. It's just that I was enjoying it and then it just sort of lost me in the 3rd act when it went off the rails a bit.

Maybe, though it would be kind of cool if there's a reversal of the classic Magneto ripping the adamantium from Wolverine's bones scene from the Fatal Attractions story, where he replaces it with his powers in DoFP before sending him to the past. It's probably not necessary, but then again, if he's fighting Sentinels, giant robotic androids, one would think adamantium claws are far better suited for that than only bone claws. Even if Wolverine's healing factor can regrow bone instead of just re-knitting it (like a normal human does when they break a bone, over a much longer period of time), I'd think him driving his claws into metal would result in continuously breaking the bone claws, which would be a very inefficient approach. The adamantium allows him to slice and stab much better without threat of breaking.

Agreed.

Ugh. This movie sucked and now I get to watch it again but extended! Yay.

I just hadn't heard anything about an extended edition. Is it just longer, or is it like an unrated cut? Or what?

EDIT: never mind, I just read the cover in your post.

First off- you're wrong. Second, if you didn't like it why would you watch it again? :?

I could've sworn that there was a mention that there was going to be one. I know people said they wanted one, but I'm sure I saw somewhere saying there would be or at least a hint towards one.

1. You seriously thought this poorly written, poorly CGI'd, poorly acted mess of a film was good? I bet you thought the last five films were just masterpieces too :p

2. Because I get paid to write reviews of comic films sometimes.
