But driving on the Interstates do get easier as you get older.

Then you get a New Car and you freak out once again.

Question to the more experienced drivers out there: does driving on the Interstate ever get any easier? I drive a little dinky dink of a car I find it rather unnerving to be driving next to trucks and whatnot. It doesn't help that I have a habit of getting lost on the interstate, even when I have directions. I blame both Mapquest and myself.

a long stretch of road without lights where cars and really, really big trucks go very, very slow and causes something called traffic jams where people go to commit suicide as cars pass by at 3mph.

Sort of related...when my wife and I were shopping for a car we went to a Toyota dealer to find out about the Prius. The salesman told us he was embarrassed to admit that the crash rating on the Prius wasn't good, and we should look at the next model up (can't remember what that was). We left, and found out that the crash rating on the Prius is actually really good.

It's no surprise that a car salesman would lie, but to disparage his own product...that was surprising. We ended up buying a Nissan.

I'll also be purchasing a car in the near future. Not a new car, but new to me. My loan check finally arrived and I'm going to use a goodly portion of it to ensure that I'll never have to ride the bus again.

Currently I have the Pontiac Vibe, I want something similar, but better.

I drive a Nissan Versa. They are somewhat similar (I have the sedan though, not the hatchback).

I liked the interior on the Versa better. Of all of the similar cars I looked it, the Versa had the nicest interior - everything else looked "cheap" and plastic-y. My dad drives a Vibe and I hate the interior on it. The Prius and the Yaris weren't any better, really.

The Versa is rated at 30 MPG city / 36 MPG highway - the best I could find in a non-hybrid (which were all out of my price range). I average 32-33 MPG pretty consistently. Gas mileage was the main factor for me since I drive so far. I drove 5 years in an Intrepid getting around 20-22 MPG, including when gas hit $5+ per gallon a few summers ago. Wish I would have had the Versa back then.

I'll look into this car, never heard of it before though. Thanks for the heads up. My Vibe was getting around 30 MPG when I first had it. It's has dropped since then to around 28 MPG, still better than the car I had before it which had 20 MPG.

One thing to keep in mind is that it's not a great family car for obvious reasons, so you'll only be able to fit 2 kids in it.
