The Post-Flashpoint DC Comics Reboot

This is...this is like atrocious bad joke that nobody even laughs at because they feel sorry for you territory.

This is ****ing terrible. Like glossy electric-blue Batman & Robin bat-nipples costume levels of missing the point.

The worst part is I really like the red belt. If they put a bit of yellow in there, it would solve the problem of losing the trunks while still retaining the range of colour in the bodysuit. All that metallic stuff (and the dumbass collar) is laughable fan-art territory.

My Theoretical pull list for the new DCU

Green Lantern
Green Lantern Corps
Green Lantern: The New Guardians
Red Lanterns - Not optimistic
Blue Beetle
All Star Western
The Fury of Firestorm
Resurrection man
Swamp Thing
Grifter
Legion of Superheroes
Legion Lost
And if the rumored Grant Morrison/Rags Morales Action comics is real I'll buy the **** out of it.

Possible Pickups

Justice League Dark
Teen Titans
Stormwatch

So I guess the relaunch is doing its job for me. Right now I'm only getting about 5 monthlies from DC. I'm more than doubling my pull list in a sort of optimism about all this.

And that Superman costume would be fine if you just did away with all the extra joints and armor look. He doesn't need armor. Hes ****ing superman. He can take a hit.

You know who I think should've headed up the redesigns...Alex Ross. Sure he'd stay pretty old school on the Superman and Batman redesigns (which you wouldn't want to change anyway) but his new costumes on Kingdom Come, JSA and Captain America were all great. What Lee hasn't realized with these characters is that you need to keep them sleek and iconic and this armor just screams old men desperately trying to look cool. I think Ross, who's probably the definitive DC artist for some time should've had his shot at it.

LOVED his Captain America redesign. Ross would've been great. So far it looks like they've just pulled a bunch of artists out of the 90s to redesign everything.

I'd like to throw in my agreement on the whole Ross design thing. I recently got his Rough Justice book, I love the designs in it, especially Batwoman, Superwoman and the Kandorian Flamebird & Nightwing.

What's funny, is one could ask what I asked about the collar about his cape. Or his boots.

I only considered how the cape and boots don't work because the collar made me rethink it.

I honestly am not sure if the problem is the costume design, or rather, the picture itself. It looks like Superboy Prime. He looks like a bad guy. It's all wrong.

... How can Superman have a collar if he wears his costume under his clothes?

How does Spider-man? Really without his mask the neck line goes halfway up his neck. On Superman it works better because he's always wearing a suit with a collar shirt.

THank you, I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out why Superman's suit bothers me so much. You nailed it on the head.

With that said, I think Super/Power Girl's (because it looks like they fused the two into a new Supergirl) new suit looks awesome.

Action Comics #1 by Grant Morrison and Rags Morales has been confirmed. Rags is doing his best Frank Quitely impression here, and it's not bad. I am happy to see a Superman that doesn't look 19 or angry.

This line makes me nervous, though: "This momentous first issue will set in motion the history of the DC Universe as Superman defends a world that doesn't trust their first Super Hero."

(all the other super books previously leaked have been confirmed)

Agreed. Supergirl's costume is one of the few redesigns I'm really fond of.

I don't like the red eyes but yeah, that's a nice cover.

I'm kind of hoping it will be a short term plot, a set of circumstances that lead people to question Superman but end up with them accepting him and setting up a more benevolent status quo. ;) Maybe it will be a story about farmer Superman fighting evil armor Superman.

But either way.... Morrison on Superman! YAAAAAAAY!

CA quotes Morrison on Superman.

And I wanted to do a story of Superman's first year in Metropolis when he wasn't so powerful and he was a bit more of a liberal activist. And to do that kind of Superman, the big heavy guy who can only pick up trucks and be killed by an exploding shell, you can kind of do that as the first year and see the differences between that guy and the incredibly powerful, self-assured man-god in the main All Star Superman book. So those are the three stories I came up with and as I say, they were slightly off the main storyline but related to it so I hope to do those when the current workload eases up because as I say I could just keep doing that Superman stuff forever.

That's kind of interesting.

Edit: Though, that was in regards to Morrison talking about All-Star sequels, so assuming it will be the basis for his Action run is speculative.

I'll be buying and I have to say. I like this costume.

I'm surprised Paul Dini, James Robinson and Dustin Nguyen aren't on anything. I'm also surprised by the lack of a JSA title.

I haven't seen Bryan Q Miller's name anywhere either. Which, with Stephanie getting ejected from the DCU, doesn't really surprise me.
