The All About Manga Thread

Akumetsu ended, overall I rate the first part of the story an "A" the middle part a "C+" to "B-" and the final part (when the yakuza come into play) an "A-". Overall it was enjoyable but tended to have long stretches in the middle that got repetitive or dragged a bit, but the end chapters were pretty badass. The author and artist's next project "Wolf Guy-Ookami No Monshou" is about a werewolf and has been enjoyable so far.

So Canute lost his innocence and went into full-fledged evil psychopath mode?

He's not really a psychopath, he's just reminding everyone who's in charge. He's in a precarious position with his brother also trying to claim the throne, so he can't have people challenging his authority.

I started reading Hero Tales, just because it's from the same team that made Fullmetal Alchemist. (Though someone else is writing the story.)

The art's great, but the story is a textbook Hero's Journey that straddles the line between familiar and cliche. But I trust these guys to come up with something good, so I'll stick around.

...I'm very dissapointed in these guys.

Yeah it's pretty bad.
we never said the arrancar are ranked 1-10!!!

The thing that finally made me give up Bleach (somewhat reluctantly...it introduced me to shonen and I have fond memories of it) is Aizen telling Ichigo that he has no reason to fight him. Except Aizen tried to kill Rukia. Manipulated people into trying to to kill him and his friends. Started a war that broke Orihime and threatens to kill his hometown. And Ichigo nearly falls for it.

It's far more stupid then it sounds. That is saying something.

HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA

Bleach is even worse than Dragonball Z in terms of hidden power levels and whatnot.

You know I never minded that (keeping mind that I only watched the anime until the soul society arc ended) because their "power levels" were relative to a spirit refiniment. Like their powers are only limited by their mental spiritual limits. But you can only do that so many times and make this "level" concept so important before it becomes just silly.

I just read a manga where the main character's a fighter who hates it when people interrupt his study time. His finishing move involves using his book to cut someone with paper cuts. His girlfriend uses a pencil as a weapon.

Japan is running out of ideas.

Well, the main bad guy currently created something that would only be effective against the captain, or some such nonsense.

Honestly, I don't have a clue.

I just read the first chapter of a manga about Curling (as in the "sport")...not as bad as you'd think, though.

I recently read the first volumes of Naoki Urasawa's Monster, Pluto and 20th Century Boys. I liked all three of them but was especially intrigued by the first two (I have seen the first 20th Century Boys movie so most of it was familiar and I understand the story doesn't really get going until about five volumes in).

Now I need to wait for my library to get the further volumes in.

The new chapter of FMA is out.

Just when I thought I couldn't love this series anymore than I already do
mother****in' Kimblee, of all ****ing people, saves Ed from beyond the grave!

His reason for doing so was the best part.

Yeah,
Kimblee was way too awesome to just be killed by a minor character and eaten by Pride. Not that I'm complaining about the result.

There's a thread for FMA somewhere.
