Another note: and this is just what I would do personally.

I would make Superman II take place in 1978 and Superman '78 take place in 1979. Can't see them taking place in the same year, (two invasions of Earth in the same year!) and also, Lex Luthor has parole in the comic, which would take some time after he returns to prison at the end of Superman II. Just spacing the events out a little more. Just my two cents.

Something else I'll add. In Superman II Lois mentiones the month as being July. As such, I would place the events of Superman II in July.

Why is that scene in Superman Returns in 1983? Is there any evidence that it happens there or is it just speculation?
