Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith [SPOILERS]

How can you say lucas made a joke out of science fiction. Thats beef on my block :x
Because he has. People who like this movie because it's part of "Star Wars" don't realize just what this does to other people's opinion's of Science Fiction. Sure, none of us care because we love our geek corner we hide ourselves into. But some writers, directors, and other visionaries try damn hard to put substance and meaning into a movie. Like Ourchair said, this movie lacked substance and aimed for two things, 1. action scenes and 2. tie up loose ends. You may say that you like the movie but it doesn't help the public's opinion about science fiction because it lacked too much.

So... I want people to realize that I love things because they relate to me. Most people think Science Fiction = Fake. We know this to be untrue because we know what it's like because we've delved into it and studied it. Star Wars is now a representative of Science Fiction and it doesn't make it look good.

Star Wars has never seemed like science fiction to me. Its fantasy, It's not based in fact, its all fiction. Star Trek, Soylent Green, Planet of the Apes, hell, even Flash Gordon is Science Fiction, its all with humans and stuff... But Star Wars is pure fantasy. People who change their oppinions of Science Fiction because of a Space Fantasy like Star Wars are like people who change what they think of Nature films because of Lord of the Rings...

You can't put something like Stargate up against Star Wars because with Stargate (or even Alien or Terminator) its like, "This could happen to us in the future", not, "this could have happened a long long time ago, in a galaxy far far away".

Well regardless... it's still fiction that girls say "ewww" too when you mention it. (unless they're really cool girls)

And that's Star Wars' fault?

I mean, would one of these non-cool girls be up to seeing a great Science Fiction movie like 2001: A Space Odyssey, or Close Encounters of the Third Kind? I'd think that they would choose a Star Wars movie over that...

Well, the movie may have broken a record for single day, but not as opening debut. It only made $108.5 million dollars in the U.S. this weekend. The movie is behind for big opening sales after:

SPIDER-MAN: $114.0 +

THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST: $115.0 +

SPIDER-MAN 2: 154.0 +

This is from the ones I know myself.

I'm done criticizing the movie. I've accepted the movie. Sure the dialogue is weak and directing could have been better, but it's a SW movie. I was raised on them. I can't hate them. I've made peace. I suggest you all too.

Well I saw the movie and it rocked. Some parts were a bit corny but jeez, there was lots and lots of lightsaber battles! General Grievous was a bit of a letdown, he seemed to be more humourous.

You couldn't be more right. Star Wars is more Wizard of Oz than it is Star Trek. Very well put.

Is that acting in the OT really that bad? I thought it was FAAAAR superior. That's another thing the dynamic of the characters in the OT was better than the prequels.

The dynamic yes, i agree, but the acting... it wavers. We let it slide because every line is classic now, but i mean, Luke in a New Hope = a Whiny *****.

It's not really any better.

And why compare the prequels with the OT? I don't get the point of that. I'm not singling MwoF, it's an honest question.

Anakin in Episode II= a whiny *****.

It must be hereditary.

And thats why we should be happy Ben Skywalker will never see the silver screen...

They'd probably get a Culkin for him. *shudder*
