Slasherverse - Timeline

The book Final Girl Support Group touches on this almost every single horror franchise in the book's universe is based off of something that happened to the main characters

It's complicated. The first two seasons have absolutely no connection to the movies. The third season has no connection to the first two seasons, but uses the Ghostface mask and voice. Scream VI features the "Brandon James" mask from Season 1-2 during the train scene but it's almost impossible to spot. I think Season 3 could suggest that it's the same universe but there's just different Ghostface killers around America doing their own thing, alongside the Lakewood Slashers from Season 1-2.

Speaking of references, here's every instance of an in-universe adaptation of real life murders in this universe that I can think of.
  • Adam Green's Hatchet references Friday the 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street and Texas Chainsaw Massacre as in-universe films.
  • The Evil Dead was shown in A Nightmare on Elm Street as an in-universe film despite the film both taking place A Nightmare on Elm Street and not having been released yet.
  • A Nightmare on Elm Street was turned into a film after an episode of Freddy's Nightmares.
  • The Texas Chainsaw Massacre's intro suggests it's an film (I placed that part in 1974).
  • The Toolbox Murders states that the film is a dramatisation of events that occurred in 1967 (I placed that part in 1978).
  • Friday the 13th: Part 2 is an existing movie in 1982 during Ash vs Evil Dead.
  • Hellraiser: Hellworld heavily focuses on the idea of an in-universe video game series based on the Cenobites called Hellworld. It's only at the end of the film that it is revealed to be real.
  • Psycho is referenced as an in-universe film in Hack/Slash: Comic Book Carnage!.
  • There is an in-universe Child's Play film called Chucky Goes Psycho.
  • A Nightmare on Elm Street is referenced as an in-universe film series in Evil Dead Rise.
You think real life Hollywood is bad profiting off of tragedies? Pffft, that's nothing. This is much worse.
Well, as Ghostface said in Scream VI...

I did do a somewhat viewing order for Scream before... and everything you could consider tangentially connected.

Dead by Daylight's "Ghost Face" might also be from the DBD universe due to an easter egg on one of the maps and a (possible) reference to Trapper (I think?) in his lore, but one of his clothing options states that "every Ghost Face should have one". Those descriptions are supposed to be in-universe, so there's the implication that there's others who wear the Ghostface outfit, and the OG Ghostface outfit is in the game, which states that Danny had no idea how iconic that look would become. To be fair though, the Scary Movie Ghostface mask is in the game too.

It's up to you whether Scream shares a universe with Jay and Silent Bob. (Okay, it isn't because they canonically do, but I meant the View Askew versions)

The Necronomicon in Pumpkinhead (comic book) is a nice connection to the cameo in Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings. The one issue I've heard of is that Pumpkinhead is one of the Seven Deadly Sins in the comic book. We see the Seven Deadly Sins in the Army of Darkness comics apparently, and Pumpkinhead isn't one of them. I haven't got to that part yet, but I'd just assume that that specific sin could take different forms, and that from one "sin" a number of different entities could be summoned depending on the method.

@Pro Bot have you ever thought about doing a timeline for Dead by Daylight?
No thanks. Not right now.

That's every single trailer, every single Tome, every single character backstory, the Legion prequel comic, every single licensed universe (only the DBD media though), the upcoming spin-off game, oh, and screw it, every single map... all for a game that barely has a story.

But hey, since DBD exists, I guess there's a Horror Multiverse that includes the Slasherverse (Earth-818793/777), AVP (Earth-94415), Saw, Resident Evil, CryptTV, Silent Hill, Scream (????) and the Remedy Games Universe... I suppose?

Hang on, there's a PREQUEL COMIC FOR THE LEGION!?

A curious question, but do we know if there are any foreign media (as in non-English media such as movies, TV shows, comics, video games or manga/anime) that may or may not count as part of the Slasherverse?

For example, something like the manga Pumpkin Night (which I highly recommend, so long as you avoid the translation by chillock, since it ups the edge a fair bit)...

Dead by Daylight is connected to the Ringu films, specifically the timeline from Ringu 2 rather than Rasen/Spiral. It doesn't have any universe links to the Slasherverse though.
Wouldn't technically make the Ringu films canon though?

The DBD original characters seemingly come from the same universe though... including Nicolas Cage, apparently. Danny Johnson Ghostface might come from that world or from the Scream universe, it isn't clear.

Well, I suppose if there's one film franchise that fits the over preparation angle of Leslie Vernon, it's Saw... Kramer implies he's been doing it for a decade so that supports a 2017 placement, around the time Jigsaw released. Kramer is super fucking dead though, they literally cut open his corpse. It's cool that he's here, but come on... Hoffman would have been better.
