Scott Pilgrim (spoilers!)

Re: Scott Pilgrim

I am rereading Scott Pilgrim. It is wonderful.

Re: Scott Pilgrim

So today I decided to give this a shot and I bought Scott Pilgrim vol 1. Though I don't know when I'll actually read it.

Re: Scott Pilgrim

So I just read this and... meh. There were a few really funny parts and it was good overall. The fight scene was just so random and out of place. It was just "oh by the way this guy can fight and everyone teams up when crazy Demon Hipster Girls show up out of no where. I'm sure it gets better and I'll eventually read the other volumes but it just didn't grab me that much.

It gets better. At least in my opinion.

BLASPHEMY!!!!!

Keep reading. If you read through volume 3 and still don't like it, you are a heartless demon monster.

That's what I figured, slow start strong follow through

Does that mean I'd have to start causing chaos and ruining the village's harvest if my need for sacrifice is not fulfilled?

Re: Scott Pilgrim

I burst out laughing when the fight kicked off. It's just so deliciously random and yet... the moon logic kinda makes a whole lot of sense.

Hell, there's a bit, long before, where Ramona 'explains' that she takes a subspace bypass through Scott's dreams and dismisses it as something Canada isn't aware of yet!

Yeah, very true to really life. I loved when Scott first approaches Ramona at the party and says something weird and they both make this hilariously awkward face

Re: Scott Pilgrim

I just read SCOTT PILGRIM & THE INFINITE SADNESS (vol 3) and it was very funny and cool.

Two things that were a little disappointing: the way the evil boss fights ends is a bit cheap (I know Pilgrim mentions this but I still find it to be lazy writing) yet I love the 1-up. The other disappointment was that because it jumps through time, the black and white nature of the book is a little to its detriment. There were many moments where I couldn't tell who was who or what moment in time the story was currently at.

Of the 3 volumes, I found this to be the weakest. It was still a lot of fun in the bizarre way that it is (Honest Ed's... the moon romance... the save point) and I burst out laughing a lot. Still very entertaining! I look forward to the fourth and fifth volumes! :D

Re: Scott Pilgrim

Yeah, the time-switching really threw me off at first. After you reread it a couple times, you'll get the hang of it.

Also, the moon romance is one of the funniest moments in the entire series. I still laugh remembering Envy's face and what she said right after the flashback, and then the reaction shots and Ramona breaking the news to her.

I think the Vegan Police are almost universally thought to be a weak way to end the book... I think it fits thematically... In Volumes Two and Three we're still dealing with Scott in his immature mindset. He's not ready to fight his own battles, and he doesn't. He even tries to pull it off in volume four, but gets called out on it... well, you'll see.

Also: BLO'M agrees with you that 3 is the weakest volume.

But I think 4 & 5 blow 1-3 out of the water (not to say that I don't love them too)

Re: Scott Pilgrim

Finally got around to reading Vol. 5. Eeek! It's a bit depressing. Quite dark. Poor Scott.

GIDEON!

When's the next one out, DSF?
