How does Bendis get so much more spotlight than Brubaker?

People are saying the silhouette is Spidey. I'm not sure the motivational quote really goes with him. I'd guess maybe DD or black Panther.

That was my first thought, but I would have assumed that Mephisto's power would have stretched across all of reality, not just Earth.

But yeah, I'm guessing that would be the explanation that will be used.

Sounds like an interesting comic. It will be good to see the prison as a regular setting and Luke Cage trying to mentor a bunch of villains (Crossbones is an interesting choice) should be neat.

I'll read it because I think Bendis actually does a decent job writing the Avengers. But I'm not exactly looking forward to it.

But that's subjective. Personally i have enjoyed his work on the Avengers.

I'm not sure if I'll pick up the new Avengers book. If the first arc is any good I'll get the trade.

I completely agree. Actually this is the case with every book he's ever written, not just Avengers. He's terrible at giving differing "voices" in his characters, even on his great books (Alias and Daredevil, namely).

But for all its faults, it's been entertaining in a mindless fun kind of way.

I think recently DC has done a much better job of giving their characters distinct personalities then Marvel has.

I think the problem is with the Avengers, is the plot is dull. The Avengers seem to just to fight the Hood and his gang and they are not compelling in the slightest, Bendis got rid of their personalities, including the hood who went from a sympathetic character to a generic crime boss.

So the weak villains make the plot seem pretty weak, but another problem is the fight scenes are bad, which really takes out the energy in this title.
