Pokemon

At long last, I earned my Razor Claw and evolved my Sneasel. Currently, my team consists of Feralitagtr, Ampharos, Pidgeot, Dragonite, Arcanine, and Weavile. I still have not defeated the Elite 4 (or Red for that matter) so here is hoping I have a good enough team.

I've got a Feraligator named Albert, a Fleffy (Rosen), a Graveler (Dr. Rock), a Velpix (Felicity), a Xatu (Injun Joe), and a Gloom (Yotsuba.)

I'm also thinking about making a "B-Team." I've never been very imaginitive in team-building, and I want to experiment with it.

I'm usually the same way. When I play I gravitate towards all the ones that have served me well in the past, not the ones that I have never tried. It's difficult, though, because new Pokemon are so ill-conceived now. I read a blog yesterday that was pretty much saying the same thing as me -- a Pokemon based on a cherry? Really?

Umm... Wow.

Three of them seem cool. The others are very sketchy. I'm expecting most of these to evolve though, so I'll reserve judgement.

The more I think about the starters, the more I want to train the otter guy. We'll see what each of them evolve into. I tend not to ever pick the grass type and since they typically are the stupidest looking and the weakest, I'll probably ignore this lizard dude.

* There will be 157 new Pokemon, bringing the total amount to 650.
* Like how Giratina compliments Dialga and Palkia, a large, green cobra will accompany Reshiram and Zekrom.
* Tauros will have an evolution: Minotauros. It stands on two legs.
* In previous games, either through moves or through abilities, players were able to alter the weather conditions of the battle field to boost certain types. For example, Groudon's Drought summons sunlight, which boosts Fire-type moves by 50%. In Black and White, players will be able to collect certain items that alter the weather conditions of the battle field. Approximately twenty of these items will affect the weather conditions so that they will boost certain types (kind of like Stadium cards in the TCG?), with some types getting added bonuses depending on the item. As a side note, in today's CoroCoro scans, there was a screenshot showing a new weather indicator (we overlooked it), which could give credence to this claim.
* One example will be setting up a Poison Field, which causes all Poison-type attacks to gain 30% accuracy, Sludge Bomb to have a 100% poison rate, and the effects of Toxic Spikes' poison to have an immediate effect.
* Black and white, good versus evil, and yin and yang are going to play a major part in the plot. However, unlike previous Pokemon games, the decisions and choices you make will "influence" the plot of the game. If you make "good" choices, you might get certain help or items, whereas "bad" choices could have negative effects. The point is that the plot will not be as cut-and-dry as previous games, changing depending on the player's actions.

All of this is NOT DEFINITE, however.

Surprised Nintendo didn't include any information on Black and White during their presentation. Granted, it had a ton of stuff but I thought this would have taken some precedence. Over Golden Sun, for sure. Is there still time for information to be disclosed?

There is 2 days left perhaps in those 2 days.

Nope. The last two days is all about testing the games out on the convention floor.

I can understand not mentioning Pokemon. This conference was all about bringing in new revivals to classics, and Goldensun hasn't been out in a long time with a new game, unlike Pokemon that has games coming out every 2 years.

Ah, then probably around Gamescom in august or something

Hopefully.

The thing is, because it's coming out in Japan first, more of the coverage is always through their magazines and shows first. For the U.S., coverage never starts until at least the fall/winter time. Which is crazy since they should announce it and show everything for the world then one country at a time or whatever.

I was reading on the Serebii.net forums some speculation that the number of badges would be cut down and that the HM surf would be removed based on the new Isshu region map. What else would there be? I agree that the badges need to take the back seat and let the plot stand out more, but to condense the number would be detrimental, I think. I thought since Gold version that there should be 8 new badges and then the 8 badges that were in the previous game. I doubt the region from Diamond and Pearl will be featured though. .

I never go to their forums. If it's not on their main news page, I don't worry about it since they give sources when they posts news.

Cutting down the badges wouldn't be smart, I think. It's always been integral to the game being 8 badges. I do agree that them "taking the back seat" wouldn't be a bad idea, since I always like to take my time in between badges anyways. So the more gameplay/story would be nice, just no need for badge numbers to be cut down. As for surf, I can see why it wouldn't be needed as an HM, and as long as it's made into part of the water-types move-set, or as a TM, I'd be fine with it.

Evidently, there is more to the map and there seems to be an airport and landing strip in the new region. A lot are speculating that HMs have been removed entirely for something different. I think that'd be interesting, actually.

Serebii.net has released screen shots including a bunch of new Pokemon. Some are redeeming this odd group of noobs... Others are not.

A lot more reassuring information about Black/White has surfaced. Some cool stuff includes:

--Two female professors helping you along your journey.
--Two childhood friends will be your rivals. One is reliable, one is not.
--A new trainer, "N", seems to be either the new Lance or a sole Team Rocket-esque force in the plot.
--Exclusive zones in each game.

Read up there's real cool stuff that makes me think this game'll be pretty strong.

Does anyone have a spare electrizer? I started my game over and I'm trying to get Electabuzz's evolution. Let me know.
