Nintendo Wii discussion

Re: Nintendo Wii discussion - post your friend codes

Is the Wii multi-regional? What I mean is, can I play US or Japanese games on a UK one and vice-versa? Is it the same for the wiimotes, Miis, and what not?
Good question. I do not remember reading anything about that. Hopefully it's not region-specific, that would be better.

well the Virtual Console is so I'd imagine the rest is region specific aswell

(Japan has like 125 more VC games)

Re: Nintendo Wii discussion - post your friend codes

Ah, well then, here's your answer Bass, it seems.

Yeah the Wii is region specific unfortunately. I was hoping that with the DS being region free, the Wii would have followed suit, but, alas....

No but there is something called Wiikey that if you have it installed makes it region free but it is a modchip so it's kind of illegal as it also allows copied games.

If you have not got a wii look on ebay for one as some sell it with a Wiikey installed and like 25 games or more

Re: Nintendo Wii discussion - post your friend codes

Okay, i need a little help. I'm here in New York, and my boss' granddaughter is here from France until Monday. He'd like to buy her a European Wii for her birthday before she leaves, but the Nintendo store here only sells the American one. Anyone know of a place in New York where one could get a European Wii? Or if that's impossible, someplace to at least order one for Colmar in France that she can maybe go pick up when she gets home?

Well, they don't seem to have that many european ones, and my boss would probably only want to buy from a store, anyway, not an individual.

Best option would be to order one from an online French store and have it delivered to her home. Really, apart from the sentimental value of physically handing a present over, there's no point trying to get it there. She'd have to carry it home and wouldn't be able to play in the States due to the typical differences in televisions and power voltages.

Yeah, i know. But he really loves being the awesome grandpa with the sentimentality and all that. On the other hand if it ain't here, it ain't here. He's already had a little trouble navigating some of the French sites, but i suspect that's probably what he'll have to do. I have one or two ideas to look into, but i'm not gonna kill myself over it.

You didn't get Super Paper Mario after all of my hyping and carrying on?!

Re: Nintendo Wii discussion - post your friend codes

I played it the other day, and it was pretty damn cool, but I don't think, for me, the novelty would wear off too quick. Same with Super Mario Galaxy.
