Avengers New Avengers: The Trust discussion (#32-37 +Annual 2; spoilers)

Re: New Avengers: The Trust discussion (#32+; spoilers)

I am not.

This is at least the 2nd or 3rd time.

2nd within the last 10 years, for sure. One of the times was in the short lived Venom series.

And it was an venom clone too

...I really really really hate clones

Re: New Avengers: The Trust discussion (#32+; spoilers)

I liked that Venom series.

I only got the first trade,

I have yet to get the one with Wolverine.

And he just tries to eat Wolverine.

And come to think of it, it wasn't the original symbiote anyway.

It was a copy infesting people and burning them out. That's why it wanted Wolverine. Healing factor.

I think the original Venom absorbed it.

I wonder if that could play into this.

You know that would make too much sense.

Another excellent issue, as always.

I'm just a little bit saddened that Leinil Yu is going to be leaving the title so soon. I remember Bendis saying he was going to be on the title for a long time. 11 issues doesn't really qualify as that. Is he going to be coming back after the Skrull mini?

4.5/5

Re: New Avengers: The Trust discussion (#32+; spoilers)

He was going to be, but then they had do other issues, which turned to be NA Annual Vol. 2 and the Invasion mini.

Wolverine got his junk shot off.

But aside from that little fun nugget---this was still an awesome issue. The spell that Doc cast was so great. And it explained that weird *** cover perfectly.

That shirt. :x

Sweet Christmas.

Still one of the best blockbuster books around.

The only time I've ever been disappointed in this book was during the Civil War tie-ins.

Well...and the shirt.

I agree about the Civil War tie-ins. The Cage and Jess issues were fantastic, but the rest were very meh.

Heard an interesting theory: Doc Strange is a Skrull using holograms to fake people out. My extrapolation: This is why Jessica Drew looked so freaked out in that one issue, because she was betraying them, the spell should've reacted to her and now she can't rat out Strange without giving herself away.

If this is true I am going to be less than pleased. The plot holes will drive me insane. It fits into the "New Avengers" storyline nicely, but ****s with everything else.

In other words, it's written by Bendis. :p

Yeah, I just thought it was an interesting theory, but my money is on Wong being recently replaced.

My guess? The next Skrull ends up being someone completely obscure because "none of us are expecting it", allowing Bendis to top himself with another final "ZOMG SPLASH PAGE" ending an issue. I'm reletively sure that the current underground criminal uprising thing is made up of Skrulls trying to conquer the Earth or whatever.

Actually, I kind of like the idea of the one Skrull being the catalyst for all kinds of falsehoods and hidden motives to come out and the Elektra-Skrull being the only Skrull in the story (or not even a Skrull), resulting in everyone's secrets getting out and making the team either incredibly strong or constantly turning against each other (or both, in a really weird way). I doubt it'll play out that way, though, because the Skrull thing can't be an Event if it doesn't destroy the status quo, change everything, shake up the teams and destroy all the relevant character arcs that you've grown attached to all for the sake of churning out another huge mega uber crossover whose every interesting effect will be quietly retconned or removed or never even take effect, one by one.

Did I use "effect" right there?

Brother Voodoo is a Skrull.

I like that.

Re: New Avengers: The Trust discussion (#32+; spoilers)

there is a preview for issue #35 on ign

http://comics.ign.com/articles/824/824992p1.html

this is why i'm getting more and more annoyed with bendis

Jigsaw, Tigershark, Armadillo, Sleepwalker?!

Sleepwalker is registered, Armadillo was a wash out from the initiative who is probably still registered who is supposed to be DEAD from PWJ #4, Jigsaw is setting up some big plan to take down Castle in PWJ now, Tigershark was last seen being taken underwater by Namor and you know that didn't turn out well.

Bendis needs an editor with the cojone's to say no everyonce in awhile
