Marvel Cinematic Universe - Timeline (Part 3)

My head cannon is that Rhodey got into a car accident between IM1 and 2 saying to himself "next time baby" as he's rushing to grab the suit. He was injured so badly, that they reconstructed his face. Poor guy, then he gets hurt pretty badly in Civil War years later.

Mr. Blue's experiments caused Abomination, Hulk and Bruce's appearances to be unstable and change over time.
But they already have their new faces before that in What if... episodes set before Iron Man 1 and The Incredible Hulk ...

Hmm, I haven't seen season 2 yet. That's interesting.

Interesting that the MCU timeline book doesn't show Terrance or Edward's face. They show the back of Edward's head at one point. I guess we're just supposed to squint and see Don and Mark.

Their faces aren't shown because now they've always looked like Cheadle and Ruffalo. It makes sense why they don't show the original actors. There doesn't need to be convoluted reasoning as to why they look different, because to those in-universe, they don't.

For me, they looked like them and now they don't. There's no alternate universe, no special plastic surgery, nothing special. They just happened to grow into another person and nobody questions it.

Heck, even with identical individuals in-universe, they're just people who look extremely similar. Fiction has this sort of hightened reality where Ben Affleck can play five characters in the same fictional universe, or Samuel L. Jackson can play four characters in the Tarantino-Verse, while also playing a character within a movie within the Tarantino-Verse.

If you a can accept that, then you can accept that some characters just happen to have a completely different face sometimes, and no one has any issues with it.

I will not pretend that Edward Norton looks like Mark Ruffalo during The Incredible Hulk, I'll just accept that within certain fiction you have to put aside "logic" when it's unimportant things like recasts and twins.

why do people think What If...? means something? Come on, it clearly only went as far BTS as Mark playing the Hulk in the MCU so they got him to voice Banner. If it was really that important, then what about the times where the film actor didn't reprise their role? Is Spider-Man retconed to sound like a different person before Infinity War? What If...? is set in alternate universes anyway.

The way I see it is that while I may see Norton and Howard, the characters have now always seen Ruffalo and Cheadle. Same thing coming up with Hurt and Ford. To me it's much easier than just saying they randomly changed faces and no one questions it. As for What-If, since Ruffalo took on the role, he also was the one who went through the events of The Incredible Hulk in the main timeline. It being a different universe has no bearing on that.

Then why earth-616 and earth-199999 are different?

It's a hard retcon like Kingpin's hammer and presumably now Vanessa's actress.
It looks different but via comic book logic you could just easily assume some offscreen reality shift occurred. But it doesn't matter.

In the end, neither affect the stories and are only a visual retcon. Don't sweat it.
I just don't think you need to have some convoluted explanation. Circumstances came up where the original actor couldn't return (whether it's pay disputes, death, scheduling issues, etc.) and they've been replaced due to that. Now to the other characters, the new actor has always been the character. I don't think it gets much simpler than that and I'm pretty sure this is how Marvel Studios want people to see it.

agreed i dont think theyll acknowledge that ross now looks like han solo..

Deadpool 3 related question: Do you think they will insinuate that the FOX owned Marvel variants like Daredevil (2003) or the two F4 film universes (No, not the Roger Corman one that's more comic adjacent) if they show up are ALL pruned realities in The Void?

Essentially, realities destroyed DURING the events of Loki?

Otherwise...how else would they end up there if the TVA doesn't normally destroy realities?

If Deadpool & Wolverine has any cameos from either the daredevil 2003 or FF 2000s cast, then I'd say unless stated in the film. that they are from separate universes that also got pruned.

I'm still flabbergasted at how Ike Perlmutter was so ignorant to think no one would notice Don Cheadle looks NOTHING like Terrance Howard.

I love Don Cheadle especially as Rhodey, but that Ike Perlmutter dude, from all I heard about him, total a-hole to the max.
I mean, Perlmutter was and always will be (in the immortal words of Billy Butcher) "a world heavyweight c*nt".

Weird. It's a device for allowing you to use video game controllers on systems they weren't designed for, and remapping buttons and stuff like that. I just joined the discord (actually not even sure what a discord really is, I guess a kind of forum) and saw this name. Thanks anyway!
