If this news holds true of them adapting the Civil War storyline into the MCU, I don't necessarily think that means Avengers 3 won't feature Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet storyline. If they adapt Civil War as the basis for Cap 3, Avengers 3 can very well still focus on Thanos and the Gauntlet. We'll see.
 
They are adapting civil war. I think it'll start in cap 3 BUT there will be a Civil war movie after it builds. Civil war comic was a great concept but very poorly done from like the half way point (clone thor and spider-man unmasking were STUPID and how can you "choose a side" when iron man acted like a villain as his side did. Make them both good as both sides had merits) hopefully the film does it right.
 
Wow. That's so cool.

I really doubt Marvel will bring Spider-Man into it though. I don't even know how they would bring the two universes together.

Well, they could go the alternate universe route and somehow have Peter Parker transported to the MCU.

They could even make it the same universe, and explain away all those construction rigs that Spider-Man used to swing on to get to Oscorp tower as being there to rebuild a certain part of the city after the Chitauri battle in Avengers. It would feel a bit forced, since you'd think a massive alien invasion would be mentioned at some point, but it could work, I guess.

And it would be stunningly cool to see Spider-Man interacting with and helping the Avengers. The banter from him aimed at the other Avengers characters in a first meeting would be hilarious.

From a business standpoint, after ASM2's box office falling short of projection, it would make perfect sense for both studios. Marvel obviously would love to have Spidey's rights back, but I do think they'd be willing to settle for working with Sony to combine the franchises. And Sony most definitely would be onboard, since Spidey crossing over into the MCU would most likely give their ailing Spider-Man franchise a huge boost in the arm in terms of fan interest and box office returns for future Amazing Spider-Man sequels and the various spinoffs they have planned (Sinister Six, Venom).

I've read that Sony has been having financial trouble and may look into selling off properties they have the film rights to, so they may be in a financial position where such a crossover would help them greatly (since I doubt they'll sell off the Spidy franchise to Marvel due to it being one of the franchises they own with the most promise in terms of economic gain).

#7 isn't correct. There's been plenty of new mutants created, even in the current Uncanny X-Men arc that started a couple months ago. And "No More Mutants" is an Avengers story arc, with no information about it, but rumored to be connected/spinning off from AXIS, so possibly some alternate something going on.

Yeah, but there may be no new mutants created from here on out. Presuming the comics currently coming out were written, approved by editorial, and had the artwork, coloring, and lettering done probably several months back or more (at least since the scripts were approved), the current issues may not reflect that dictate yet. I'm not saying the article is 100% accurate, just that that aspect may play into the whole scheme. If six months down the road new mutant characters are showing up, we'll know it's not the case.

But that's something that Chris Claremont has stated himself just the other week that that was a mandate given to creators at the beginning of the year or earlier. Even he himself created a new mutant within the just started Nightcrawler series he's currently writing.
 
Is that also why spider-man keeps getting treated like crap? I mentioned this is in my comic Zone video but since marvel did movies Iron man became the face of marvel and spider-man? Spiderman got his continuity erased in new day , the superior stuff and more its like they made it so people can't like spider-man anymore. Even the ultimate cartoon feels dumb. Hopefully if they do agree with sony to use him he'll stop been treated like a ginger step-child.

Also killing wolverine arguably the most popular xmen character.

Spider-Man did not get his continuity erased in One More Day, which I believe is what you mean. Everything that happened with Spider-Man after he was initially married to Mary Jane still happened, just with him and MJ as a couple or whatever, to a point where they eventually broke up.

They didn't make anything with Superior so people wouldn't like it. No one does anything like that on purpose. And in fact, Superior Spider-Man was a big success for Marvel and made that 'version' of Spider-Man quite popular. Some things that were done with him were really quite smart and ingenious.

The Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon may feel dumb to you, but what do you expect when they are purposely making the cartoon for little kids? Of course something like that will feel dumb to adults.


If Marvel and Sony actually do work out a deal, he'll be treated just fine in the MCU. Whatever happens behind the scenes, Marvel still does great work with the characters and the movies.

I wouldn't mind if they introduced Spider-Man into the MCU and left it nebulous if it was related to the ongoing stuff at Sony. I know that's not what they'll do, but after ASM2, I just don't want that to be part of the MCU.
 
There's a one-shot script for Sin (Red Skull's daughter) written that hasn't been made. [Click on #8]

"Sin's an interesting character that the big-wigs at Marvel have shown some additional interest as of rest, with Iron Man 3 writer Drew Pearce stating he wrote a script for a Marvel One-Shot featuring Sin that hasn't been made."

I wonder if they're going to start making the One Shots again. I enjoyed them.
