I Am Legend (Spoilers)

Re: I Am Legend

I have a graphic adaptation by Steve Niles and some-artist-I-can't-remember of Mathesons original novel. Pretty damn good read.

I know what you're talking about but haven't looked through it. I recommend the original novel though, as I'm sure Niles had to trim down some of the story. And honestly, every bit serves a purpose and adds tension, so I definitly say read the original book.

I know what it's about. I've read it. I'm just pretending to be an idiot. :D

You don't have to pretend.

Your move.

As for the book the movie is based on, I'll try to find it. The story is definetly very intriguing (sp?) to me.

Its easy to find. Matheson's books are easily found at any Barnes & Noble, or other book stores.

I'm even more excited for this having seen the new trailer. It looks like a perfectly updated version of the book for today's cinema. Can't wait.

I wouldn't say perfectly, but it did give me hope for this movie. I'll probably check this out in theaters.

Yeah, I just watched the trailer and it looks to be pretty good. How much did it say gas prices were, though? 6 something?

Re: I Am Legend

I'm trying not to be cliche here but I mean come on...

Will Smith is not the depressed, alcoholic, sexually frustrated Robert Neville. If this was just some remake of "The Omega Man" then maybe he could pull off an updated Charlton Heston for action man's sake.

No Ben Cortman? :( It's the very thing I want to see come to life. The chill of his "Come out Neville!" It was the spark that set the entire tone of the story for me.

The dog's going to be overused. There's a sense of hope and the whole trial Neville goes through trying to get the thing to trust him was heartbreaking and would have brought a solid dynamic to the adaption. And from the trailers... mutant dogs? :?

Moving it to New York doesn't upset me as it does most. I would have liked to see a more suburbian setting though.

It doesn't look like a bad movie for the sake of entertainment but it just sort of reminds me of Matheson's story on steroids.

No Ben Cortman:(

Re: I Am Legend

Meh, I couldn't care less about reviews. If I agree, I agree. If I don't, I don't. If I want to see a movie, the trailer is what will make my final decision, not reviews.

Re: I Am Legend

By the way, I totally agree with MWoF that the lack of Ben Cortman is disappointing, especially since there was some rumour Johnny Depp was going to play him a while back. Even though that wouldn't have been like the book... I think that would've rocked. The story'll be less chilling without him.

Re: I Am Legend

Just got back from this. I thought it was excellent. Will Smith was incredible, and the exposition and everything up to the climax was superb, the ending was the only thing that was sub-par in my mind. 9/10 More thoughts to come.
