Gotham TV Series news

How do you figuratively don a cowl?

I'm guessing that if the series doesn't end with him as Batman, it'll end with Bruce committed to the idea of becoming Batman (traveling the world, training, etc).

Even if the show ends in a few years when Bruce is still a teenager, I'd be surprised if there wasn't a flash forward in the finale that shows him standing on a building roof in costume looking over the city.

The Joker Will Be Coming To Gotham, He's Already Leaving His Mark In The Marketing Materials

"A new promotional art piece for Gotham shows off the key characters being introduced in the pilot episode and, hidden away in the background, a series of teasing references to other pieces of Batlore.

Amongst these is this sign for a casino."

Seen the trailer, I liked the premise much more when it was a "day in the life of Gotham cops" type thing and not just constant origins. It looks really flat and cheap visually, and I'm a professional videographer so I'm allowed to say that.

I thought the first trailer was goofy but it didn't seem terrible but this looks really bad.

I don't think it looks bad, but we'll see. I'm still going to give this a shot to see how it's like. I'm interested in it, even if they're adding so many villains that are unnecessary to have.

I think Smith's character is what is killing me. That and, as much as I love Smallville, I am REALLY tired of origin stories. Especially long drawn out ones.

I love origin stories, but not origin stories like this. I don't want to see young Bruce Wayne meet young Selina Kyle and face off against young(er) Riddler and Mr Freeze. Tell me the story of Bruce Wayne's training. What makes him tick? What did he experience in his travels.

Although, I guess that might be a little too much like Arrow now.

Besides the fact that Bruce's training has been done in the films (Batman Begins), animated series (Batman - The Animated Series), animated movies (Batman - Gotham Knight), video games (Batman - Arkham Origins "Initiation" DLC), and ad nauseum in the comics themselves. Seriously, we don't need to see more of Bruce training to be Batman.

How many more times do we need to see a Batman origin story? At least this has some element of originality by focusing on Gordon and early versions of the super criminals who will become Batman's rogues gallery.

Furthermore, if the show is successful and lasts a few years, I can see them eventually doing a time jump and skipping several years to Bruce being 18, leaving Gotham, and beginning his training, occasionally showing that while Gordon still attempts to clean up Gotham, and maybe him and his wife have Barbara.

I've never seen Batman's training and travels done in detail. I don't read his comics and don't really play video games. The little bit we saw in Batman Begins whetted my appetite and I'd like to see more.

I don't think showing the younger villains is original at all. The only time I've seen something like that done well was in Mask of the Phantasm. If we're going to have all of Batman's villains in the show, then why don't we just make it a Batman show?

The reviews and reactions to this - so disappointing.
