While the Fuhrer celebrates his son's tenth birthday, Al is held captive by Envy, who is waiting to bring Al to his master. Somewhere in Central, the Tlingum brother meet up with Ed at a location specified in the Tlingum brothers' father's journal.
There, Ed creates an entrance into the lair of the Homunculus and the one who possesses the power to control the Homunculus. Inside, he finds an entire city in an underground cavern. Legend has it that the city of Central disappeared overnight, possibly due to an alchemist's experiment gone awry...
Deep in the subterranean city, Dante prepares for the arrival of Ed. Suddenly, Wrath bursts in, delirious from the death of Sloth, asking for the Philosopher's Stone. Envy steps in to set Wrath straight.
At headquarters, Archer has cornered Izumi. Suddenly, Archer comes under fire from Ross, Brosh, and a squad of soldiers who quickly pull Izumi to safety.
Still underground, Ed enters a ballroom where Rose is dancing. Winry and Seska are still in Resembul, and Seska realizes that it is the humans who are forcing the Homunculus to create the Stone, not the other way around as most had previously thought.
Having put together all the clues, Ed comes to the conclusion that Dante has just been transferring her soul from body to body for hundreds of years.
With nowhere to go, the two fight until Dante gains the upper hand and sends Ed through the Gate. It seems that both Ed and his father have been send to an alternate reality reminiscent of World War II...
