Dreamcasting #31: The Endless (Sandman)

No rush, buddy. If you've got a full work week, then we can keep the round going until Sunday, as originally planned.

Incidentally, I have a definite choice in mind for Thessaly, but i'm keeping mum about who it is, until the round is finished.

I work in a Gas Station right now man. I've got nothing but free brain power to work with all day.

Maybe I'll finish my cast as well. I have a Thessaly, a Lucien, and a Lucifer. If i did, though, it would stand on its own. I want people to vote based on my endless.

I think i'm going to go volume by volume and cast the supporting characters... At least all the major storyarcs. I think I'll have "Preludes and Nocturnes" tonight. Maybe even "The Doll's House".

But as I said before, these are mostly just for fun, this round is "The Endless", not "The Sandman". Vote on my first cast.

I do plan on one. Tomorrow is another day off that I have nothing planned.

Today I was busy all day.

I only have a Destiny. :(

I have pretty much everyone in preludes and nocturnes... but i'm a few short and getting more and more tired. So i'll get to it in the next day or two.

Whoa! You're really getting into this, Doc.

Looking forward to what else you've got, even if it doesn't have a bearing on the final decision of the contest.

I like TOG's cast. It ain't the bESTEST evar, but it looks like a potentially FUN one, which would be a nice change of pace from the self-serious take that most fans have of the characters.

TOG used my Death! I must have gotten someone right ^_^ yay me

Dream

Death
Like Mole I wanted an actress that would work with the more optimistic side of life so I went with Sarah Chalke. She would be shown only in Black and White.

Desire
Tilda Swinton

Delerium
Well, I really wanted to not go with the obvious choice here but since she already played Delirium once... Summer Glau

Destruction
Ron Perlman

Destiny
Body by Jim Henson's Creature shop, with the voice of Michael Dorn

Dispare
Danny DeVito - If Ed Asner makes teh perfect Granny Goodness then Danny Devito with some hair extensions makes the perfect Dispare.

Rose
Ellen Page seems to be a perfect fit for the confident yet mostly lost Rose.

Lyta Hall
Elizabeth Mitchell got the nod here mainly because of teh scene in Lost where she shoots Pickett on the beach. She seems vulnerable enough, but can steel herself when needed.

The Corinthian
Brad Pitt

Thessaly
Sarah Gilbert - Best I could do.

Just a friendly reminder to everybody: cast as many characters as you feel like. However, votes should be based on your choices for the Endless, primarily.

Having said that, Sarah Chalk (isn't there an 'e' at the end of her name?) is my fave Death of this round, so far, because a lot of people forget that Death is ostensibly the second eldest of the Endless. Chalk has the look and demeanor of somebody competent and experienced at what they do, but with the right kind of human touch to ease you people through the unpleasantness of what she does (if necessary), and the calmness to put dissenters in their place.

I can *so* imagine Chalke responding to the really long lived guy who met an unremarkable end in Brief Lives. "You got what everybody else did: a lifetime." (Or however that line is supposed to go.)

Incidentally, i'm curious. For those of you who have casts with mixed nationalities: do you necessarily imagine all the Endless speaking with the same accent? If so, what kind?

Yes. Yes there is.

As for my Endless I don't see any of them having a definable accent.

Wow Baxter, some of those are pretty good.

Especially some of the optional ones.

But I hate your Lucifer. Booo.

I need one for him.

Delerium is the only Endless pick I really like.

I think I got fixated on the Angelic nature of Lucifer in The Sandman. He's definatly a fallen angel, not a demon. I wanted someone to emphasize that. It came down to HJO or Jared Leto.

And like I said, Glau as Delirium was a gimmie. I really wanted to choose someone not so obvious.
