Matt might just quite being Daredevil

the haven't said that Matt would die anywhere in any of the teasers just end of DD and new MWoF

Yeah, I don't think Matt's going to die. Someone else is just going to take up the mantle.

Did anyone else read Daredevil: Black and White this week? It's another one of Marvel's cool anthology oneshots (like what they did with Shang Chi, Doctor Strange and Iron Man) with stories by Peter Milligan, Ann Nocenti, and Rick Spears. I liked it and I'm glad marvel is continuing with the format.

I read it, and it was fantastic. Well, the first 2 stories - I didn't read the last one.

And that brings me to my problem with these kinds of issues. The Kingpin story would've made a great single issue filler story. The eyesight restoration surgery story? You could plan out an entire run with that plot. But instead they get relegated to a single issue while this Shadowland crap is going on in the main book.

If the purpose of Shadowland is to get Matt to stop being Daredevil, have him get his eyesight back like the first story. He could meet someone and retire in a while, etc. etc. etc.

I guess my point is that Shadowland is dull, Daredevil is completely out of character, and these two short stories were infinitely better and deserve to have been told in the main book.

It makes me want to see Milligan do a run on DD.

Well Daredevil is supposed to be completely out of character, or rather it's not that hard to see him snapping after all the crap he's been through, plus possible demonic forces at work.

Wow I've never even seen that potential story idea of Matt being able to get his sight back. I'm amazing I never thought of it before

I know, but it's not being done in a way that is understandable or relatable or makes any kind of sense. They're just telling telling us that he's not himself - that doesn't work with a character who has such a strong personality like Matt Murdock.

If I had an inkling what I was doing I'd pitch it to Marvel myself. Just thinking about it when I was typing that post I came up with a killer ending for the whole thing.

I always got the impression it was near impossible to actually make a pitch without knowing someone high up in editorial well.

I don't know what all the praise for Diggle is all about. His run has completely sucked.

Has there been a lot of praise for Diggle?

Honestly, I haven't found much to complain about his Daredevil run in general. Shadowland hasn't been all that hot, but the core book has remained solid. Then again, out of everything I've read by Diggle, it's got to be my least favorite.

So..... I'd bet good money Daredevil gets a relaunch in early to mid-2011. We'll get a "Man Without Fear" miniseries in the meantime, where various heroes "audition" as the new Daredevil, then Daredevil proper will come back with a new #1 (and probably a new writer. Jason Aaron, perhaps?). Marvel will probably use it to launch a handful of new street level books. And Andy Diggle will probably be grossly underutilized as Marvel won't be able to figure out what to do with him.

Haven't read DD in a while so I wouldn't know, the only comics I read now are ones I can borrow from the library. But still its a bit sad to see DD's title get cancelled, if DD gets killed off, it would be a sad end the character. He goes crazy, creates an illegal prison and then dies in disgrace. I hope the character gets more of a respectful end.

Daredevil isn't going to stay canceled.

Perhaps not, but I have been hearing stories that Murdock would be replaced by someone else as DD: http://www.comicbookresources.com/?id=27683&page=article

Prediction: We'll get a four to six issue miniseries where different characters try out the costume in the wake of Matt Murdoch's disappearance, after which he returns in a new ongoing.

Worst case scenario, he's gone a year. If someone does take over the title, it won't be someone as far-flung as Nova or Falcon.

Still if Murdock has completely disgraced the ideals of justice he used stand for, by illegally imprisoning people and denying them their constitutional rights, how can he continue as DD? You have to fix the damage to the character first, before he can take up the mantle. Also none of this fixes the reason why I don't read DD anymore, the book has just gotten depressing.

It seems like every five years some villain destroys DD life, its a cliche at this point and it makes DD a drag to read. DD's life never goes anymore, it just destroyed so he can rebuild it, so it can get destroyed again. If I wanted to be depressed I would watch the news, not read comics.

It's comics. They don't need to address those issues. All they need is a new number one, baby!

Um... okay...

It's all going to come down to Matt walking away because he took this role as the overly violent enforcer and then coming to terms that he's not a bad guy and getting back in the ring. A lot of comparisons to his father and Matt Murdock Daredevil goes on.

nah, a new number 1 isn't going to cut it this time. They need something fresh and new...I think they're going to need a new number 1 with variants! lots of variants! villain variants, sketch variants, young guns variants, blank variants, dead pool variants, foilogram variants, the possibilities are endless!
