Anyone Computer Savvy?

Is it me or has E really been quite insulting of people and their ideas recently?

Yes. E is an evil jerk.

Try running Security Task Mananger. It will show you which of those programs are a threat or seem like one and allow you to remove them.

EDIT: Just realised there were a bunch of posts I didn't read. Never mind.

Remember to reboot your computer and check with HiJackThis again.

Well that fake infection warning thing is popping up again, also internet explorer opened up, even though I never use it. Also whenever I click on something in my explorer a new page pops up in my tabs

Does anyone know why a Windows XP laptop would fail to recognize a storage device?

I'm using a Cutie Pocket Hard Disk Drive (Model FHD-24) manufactured by Sarotech, which works with every computer but mine. I've had troubles before getting my laptop to recognize it steadily, but now it just won't show up.

Other storage devices, such as a Creative ZEN and various USB flash memory sticks and digital cameras work fine but for some reason this one won't.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\frmwrk32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntdll64.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntdll64.exe
Yes. It is back.

Here are some things you should do to remove it:

0.5) Close all your webbrowsers
1.) Delete everything in your temp folder (I mean EVERYTHING. You don't need anything in there.)
2.) Delete everything in your temporary internet folder
3.) Reboot in safe mode and delete the files above.
4.) Reboot into normal mode.

NOTE! If you can't delete some files I suggest that you install this program and then, by left clicking on the files that won't be removed, mark every one of the non-deletable files. Reboot after that and they should be removed.

This Trojan seems to be a nasty one (and it IS the trojan that create the problems). It is a pretty new one too so there isn't much information about it.

How do you connect it? It might be faulty hardware in your computer if you connect the other devices any other way.
From what I can see you can connect it two ways; by USB or Firewire. Have you tried it both ways?

I'm having trouble with Handbrake...I'm putting DVDs in the drive and Handbrake is saying it can't find any titles. The DVDs work fine.

I have other ones that it finds the titles OK, but when I hit "start" to rip them it works for about 2 seconds and tells me it's done with no error message or anything, and all I have is a 4kb file of nothing.

What's the deal?

Copy-protected DVDs?

It is recommended that you rip your DVD to your harddrive and THEN encode it (if that is what you are trying to do). Mac the Ripper seems to be recommended to rip DVDs for Mac.

I'll keep that in mind, thanks. I upgraded to the latest version of Handbrake on the Mac and everything seems to be working great. I did the same for the Vista PC I was also using, although it was much slower.

I'm connecting it via USB, I don't own anything else.

Also, I can't fathom how my computer's hardware would be faulty as I can connect all my other USB devices. I suspect it's a software problem, like maybe a ****ed up driver or registry key, but I dunno.

Could be. Try and see if you can download drivers from the manufactures homepage. It might solve the problem.

The reason I said it could be a hardware problem is that devices can have different sensetivity with problems like that. Some types of computers don't like some devices and some work just great with them. It all depends on the manufacturer.

They appear to be gone but I only found one C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntdll64.exe, I'm not sure why there's two in your list

Well at least mine is special I guess

Is there anything this man doesn't know?

Well my automatic update has shut off again and I forgot how I fixed it the first time. So here's my hijackthis results

I just got my new Anti-virus software through the post :D Kaspersky Internet security 2009. This program is awesome. It has all the same stuff my previous one had plus it has extras like a Virtual keyboard to enter passwords on for safety. Also it has a feature that scans just new and altered programs to use less resources. A nice firewall and more. Worth it completely and so far seems t be running great.

I got the 3 licenses edition so when I get a new computer/laptop around september-november time (getting after my trip to usa this year) I can install it on to that without needing another license.

Does anybody here know how to rig a software solution for playing games on a widescreen laptop so that they appear in full screen mode (perhaps with blank bars on the sides)?

I'm getting bothered by the fact that I play a lot of Win9x games that weren't designed with widescreen in mind.

play them in windowed view and shrink the window to a size that pleases you.

Not all games have that option, and many that do bury them as a console command or an execute flag. It would be convenient to have a master switch that says "Don't stretch the frame!"

Also, even if I played in windowed mode it means that my desktop icons and wallpaper get in my face, ruining the experience.
