Alien vs. Predator - Timeline

While this is a standalone Predator entry, Trachtenberg still can't help throwing Easter Eggs in to appease franchise fans. Early in the film, Dek is cycling through holograms, or there's a trophy case that'll be worth a giggle. Humans being so low on the competition ranking alone has its comedic appeal. Oh, and no, that's not a Starship Troopers nod, even though it looks like one (we tried).
Honestly (and I'm probably completely wrong), it kinda makes me think we could see other alien creatures owned by Fox/Disney as either holograms or skulls.

Random thought, but Avatar would be a good fit. It matches pretty well with Alien already.
I also don't like that film so seeing a dead Na'vi would be pleasant, hehe...

Not to use a bad pun or anything, but did your experience on Underwater make you feel like you dipped your toes in the waters to make an Alien film?

It definitely prepared me for the set builds and the design aesthetic. I already had a leg up because I'd kind of done an alien [story] underwater. I'm not afraid of big sets or afraid to push the envelope. It gave me the confidence to just go, "You know what? Let's just design and let somebody tell us it's not possible." So that's how I proceeded with Alien.

I had the support of Disney and obviously had the support of Fede and the producers. We just pushed as hard as we could until we hit that breaking point where it wasn't doable. We'd rethink or renegotiate or come up with a different plan. But the idea was always to push as hard as we could, and that's exactly what I did on Underwater. I was already in that mode.
It's not a lot, but neat that the Underwater production designer worked on a proper Alien film after.

Will we eventually see another Alien vs. Predator?

Probably.

Not sure how I feel about that.

It wouldn't be in the way you think. That's the thing. Not in the way that it will just be called Alien vs. Predator or anything like the original movies. If we do this, they'll be organically created out of these two franchises that we've continued with characters that we fall in love with and those characters will combine…perhaps. But we haven't gotten to that point. And we're not just going to bang it out.
This shit was literally hinted at last year.

AVP WAS NEVER NON-CANON. Not in 2004, not in 2012, not in 2018, not in 2025. Never. Arguably not even in 1990 since that skull was a direct reference to the comics by the set designer. Alien elitist fans are going to be coping hard.

Also, yeah, it's probably best to put the Blade Runner series in it's own standalone timeline.
I would say that it's still strongly linked to the AVP universe. I mean, after the events of Aliens, Burke recovered a synthetic from Arcadia 234 (from Soldier - supposed to be destroyed) whose generation was supposed to be recycled years ago and is referred to as a replicant multiple times, and replicant is an exclusive term to Blade Runner.

I'm still shocked they got away with that. Way, way, way bigger crossover than any other reference because it's part of the plot. In any case, I'm just gonna leave it separate at the moment, if not only because it's cleaner, more manageable and justifiable.

Head-canon: If we ignore that white mark on his mouth in the first image, we could reason that this replicant bleeds white blood due to Burke using Weyland-Yutani cybernetics to repair them. In other words, a cyborg replicant.

Possible. Obviously connections must be assumed as main timeline links for documentation reasons, but even still. If you think about it, AVP could be what the Blade Runner timeline looks like if you take away whatever backstory lead to its technological advancement. In other words, Tyrell still existed and created replicants, Tyrell Corporation still existed, Arcadia 234 never blew up, technological advancement was serveral decades slower, etc.

Connections should be taken as same universe (main timeline) evidence but dismissed as branched timeline material in the case that it's not.
