Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. discussion (spoilers)

How come in last night's episode, Gonzales says that Coulson saved everyone from Ultron (or something along those lines) but as far as I can tell he is not in AoU? Is he just referring to finding the location of Loki's lance?
I thought Gonzales said "how can I deny the man who saved the earth from Ultron".

He specifically said, "How can I argue with the man that saved thousands of lives from Ultron?" That's different than saying he saved everyone or the earth. Keeping a helicarrier hidden and off the books allowed them to save thousands of lives off of
the floating city.

That episode had a twist. I definitely didn't see that coming. I'm looking forward to next week's two-parter.

I just read an interview that Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen done by Zap2it where they state that the season 2 finale will be a cliffhanger that will leave us waiting for season 3. Which has still not been greenlit, as far as I've heard.

I'm okay with that.

Yeah, I honestly didn't see much point in a Bobbi/Hunter-focused spin-off. More fun seeing them interact with the other AoS characters, I'd think, than a show just focused on the two of them. Even adding additional cast member to that spin off (a given) would've only been serving as a lame replacement for the existing AoS cast.

Just seemed extraneous and tacked on (even more so than AoS often already feels in relation to the larger MCU).

If anything, make a tv series about a b-list superhero (which I guess they are doing already). I know it's been said many times before, but She-Hulk could be good if a show had the budget for it.

So after watching the finale, I can see where they may have been gearing up for a Bobbi/Hunter spin-off. It seems like their story as part of SHIELD is over.

Actually, pretty much every mystery from the beginning of the show has been shown now. We know how Coulson came back from the dead and all the alien fall-out from that, we know all about Skye's past, we know about May's "Calvary" story. It seems like they weren't sure if the show was going to continue so they wrapped everything up nicely. But season 3 is surely going to be about what happened to Gemma (Is she Inhuman if that thing attacked her? Is she alive? Where are she and Fitz going for their date?), what happens with the Inhuman fish oil, what happens with Ward's faction of Hydra, and what happens with Skye's secret warriors team (and what were those blueprints that Coulson was looking at at the end?)

I was very satisfied with how Cal's story arc was wrapped up. I'm glad that he ended up being basically redeemed, which is weird for Mr Hyde, but it worked. And wow, May is cold with the way she got Ward to kill Kara.

Overall, it was a good finale. Some of it was cheesy, but I liked it.

It was pretty clear from the end of season 2 that they were going to head in this direction, but it's cool to have it official!

Extensive synopsis for Agents of SHIELD Season 3

"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." returns for an action-packed third season, with Director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Agent Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet) leading the charge as S.H.I.E.L.D. searches the world for more powered people in the aftermath of their epic battle with Jiaying and her army of Inhumans. However, Coulson and the team soon find out that they are not the only group looking for these new Inhumans.

Many months after their war with a rogue group of Inhumans, the team is still reeling. Coulson is again trying to put the pieces of his once revered organization back together while also dealing with the loss of his hand. His confidante and second in command, Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen), has yet to return from an impromptu vacation with ex-husband Andrew (Blair Underwood); deadly superspy Agent Bobbi Morse (Adrianne Palicki) is recovering from her traumatic torture at the hands of Grant Ward (Brett Dalton); Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) is obsessed with discovering the truth behind the mysterious disappearance of Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge); and all are on high-alert for the next move from Ward and Hydra. Ever since the existence of Super Heroes and aliens became public knowledge after the Battle of New York, the world has been trying to come to grips with this new reality.

Coulson assembled a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division). S.H.I.E.L.D.'s mission: to protect those who cannot protect themselves from threats they cannot conceive. But bigger threats loom ahead, setting the stakes even higher for the Agents, including the spread of Terrigen, an alien substance that unlocks superhuman abilities in select individuals; the emergence of new Inhumans who cannot yet control nor understand their powers; the rise of a new government organization that will go toe-to-toe with S.H.I.E.L.D.; the unknown properties of the massive alien Kree monolith, which has taken one of their own; and the constant threat of a rebuilt Hydra terrorist organization under S.H.I.E.L.D. traitor Grant Ward, who is making it his personal mission to take down Coulson and S.H.I.E.L.D.

New faces, both friend and foe, will join the series, including the no-nonsense, highly-skilled and somewhat mysterious leader (Constance Zimmer) of the ATCU (Advanced Threat Containment Unit), her intimidating partner, Banks (Andrew Howard), Lash (Matthew Willig), a monstrous Inhuman whose loyalties remain ambiguous, and new Inhuman Joey (Juan Pablo Raba), who is struggling to harness his newfound abilities, among other surprising characters. Coulson, with the help of Daisy and Mack (Henry Simmons), will work to slowly assemble a team that is stronger than ever before, combining the highly skilled Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. with powered individuals in the hopes of protecting the innocent in a world where the balance of power is ever-shifting, and new dangers are constantly emerging."

Looks great

What did you guys think of the season premiere? I liked it. I'm wondering where Simmons is. Poor Fitz. :(

The only complaint I have is Lash. He looks kind of dumb. But that's minor. I'm excited for the new season and my weekly dose of the MCU!
