24- The Bauer Power Hour series discussion (spoilers)

Nadia isn't the traitor. It's not THAT easy.

She is ****ing HOTT, though. :drooling:

:heybaby:

I'd totally wreck that.

Poor Jack. Why will the producers, writers, directors, etc, not let him be happy? It's getting to the point where I wouldn't be surprised if the show ends with his suicide or something.
By the way- the VP is a crazy person. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Hate the Vice President.

"I'm going to nuke the middle east because I am".

This season has been declining in quality since episode 4. I hope to god they make a complete change with season 7, and set Jack in China avenging Audry's death or something.

Just, please...no more presidential cabinet intrigue. Honestly, the idea that every one of the joint chiefs would just say 'Aye aye, captain!" to nuking another country really, really pushes my suspension of disbelief to its limit.

Yeah I was thinking that too, a season of 24 of Jack's vengeance, but then some fundamental 24-elements will be left out.

And I agree, everyone must blatantly be able to see he is pushing way too hard for nuclear war, what happened to the mother-of-all-bombs?

They could find a place for Chloe, who is the only element I would miss. All these other characters need a break from the show through other means than dying.

And we could go with no moles in CTU during season 7. The writing is starting to look lazy.

I HATE Chloe. She's a TERRORIST!

I actually found myself wanting to change the channel during this episode.

I don't know what it is.....but this season isn't as awesome as some of the previous systems.

It's still an awesome show......it's jus that.......ugh---I don't know what's wrong with me lately. First I don't care for Shazam and the Monster Society, then I stop caring about 24........what's next!?!?! Comics in general!??!?

I still very much enjoy the series - for me, "24" on an "off-day" is still tons better than 99% of what else is out there. But I have to agree that, after a really promising start, this season has lost some momentum for me. I can't put my finger on one simple cause... if I had to try, it would be that the "threat" was allowed to become too diluted, too spread around. It is radical Islamic terrorists... no wait, it is "the evil cabal" (with Jack's brother and Dad!)... no wait, it is renegade Russians... and hey, there is a plot against the President... AND the vice-president is a dangerous loon ... and...and...and...

I mean, I realize "24" is about upping the ante, throwing in twists, etc... and I really enjoyed some of that this year (like learning just HOW ..well..BAD Jack's dad is...*S*... and the return of the shifty Logan). But overall... I think they just got a bit too scattered. I think that the nuke threat, and Fayed, were plenty for one season. Maybe with a bit of "Jack's bad dad" thrown in. *S*

And while I am very much enjoying just HOW evil and downright mean Powers Boothe's VP is, that is one aspect of "24" mythology that seems oddly out of synch with the real world - or, maybe more accurately, since "24" by definition strains credibility all out of whack, while making you enjoy it, it is one aspect of "24"'s mythology that just goes a step TOO far...! ... that is, the notion that the VP is often totally out of synch with his President. Didn't they pull that with Logan? And "fake" it with Logan's VP (who turned out to be not so bad after all)? Sure, VPs are often chosen to 'balance tickets' geographically, but can anyone honestly see David Palmer picking THIS VP as a running mate? Or THIS VP agreeing to run with Palmer?

Shadow

PS - Funny how many "ROBOCOP" alums have shown up on 24... Peter Weller, Jack's brother, Logan's VP...

PPS - No way the "mole" is the woman they are now accusing. But it would be a heck of a twist if she WAS, since we are all assuming, largely for PC reasons, that she just CAN'T be.

I'm with the smart guy who wrote lots of stuff.

Yep, and really execpt for the last 2 seasons 24 does have "off hours" where its filled with stories we don't really care about, so dont feel too bad VVD, if 24 was always at its highest our feeble minds wouldnt be able to take in the awesomeness.

Isn't it obvious that the traitor is Milo? At least, that's who I think it is...

I wanted to think that too.....but then I remembered that he just got shot trying to stop terrorists. SO that ruled him out---unless it was a massive diversion to keep his cover.

Then I thought it could be Morris. But he got a drill thru his shoulder and waged war on the sauce.....so that ruled him out.

It's become painfully obvious that America loves Chloe and will not kill her off or make her a traitor.

Nadia is the likely suspect. But it would be too cliche if she was.

All the shots of shifty-eyed Milo seem like a glaring giveaway. I mean, he was looking at her through the window as she was taken away...and looking damn evil at the same time.

Is anyone else getting a kick out of Ricky Shroder?(sp?) He's like an angry six year old.

If the traitor turns out to be Chloe, I'm going to go crazy with "I told you so" speaches. I mean, who would have thought that Nina Meyers was the traitor back in season one?

Chloe's shifty...I don't trust her.

BUT!

Nina was revealed as the traitor within the same season she was introduced in. Chloe's a fan favorite and has been around a long time that they won't make her the terrorist.

Hehe. Found this on Sutherland's wiki page.

During the autumn of 2001, Sutherland unintentionally interrupted the filming of the premiere episode of an online series titled The Lonely Island. In the episode "White Power", the main characters develop an addiction to teeth whitener, and eventually mug an old woman to facilitate their addiction. Sutherland, driving by at the time, believed the mugging was real and jumped out of his car to intervene. A small portion of Sutherland's appearance is displayed after the credits, though the portion is only Kiefer stopping his car and looking at them. This anecdote was recounted by Andy Samberg.

Last night's ep rocked. GO PALMER!

Mother f-in vice.

Jack Bauer Man Of The Hour

Unless you've been locked up in a Chinese prison for a year, you have no doubt seen or heard of the hit FOX TV series, 24 starring Kiefer Sutherland. It's one of my personal favorites and I have rarely missed an episode. I think the series is one of those rare ones that gets better with each season. It's like a nice steak that has had all the fat trimmed off it. The writers have learned what works and doesn't with each passing season. Unlike other shows that merely lock things into auto pilot and coast.

Something you may not know is that IDW Publishinghas been producing the official 24 comic book. Like the TV show, I haven't missed one yet. The series is mirror of everything that makes the TV show a hit. There is no way you can not enjoy the show without enjoying the comic book just as much.

The comic book series is written by J.C. Vaughn and Mark Haynes. The art on the current series (24: Nightfall) is by Jean Diaz with colors by Debora Cartia. The book has all of the characters that you enjoy on the show and the best part is that the comic is just as action packed and filled with the same edge-of-your-seat tension that the TV series addicts you with.

It's obvious that Vaughn and Haynes are students of the series as well as the multi-layered characters. The pacing equals that of the TV show. The art is realistic and stays true to the characters as they are played on TV. It amazes me that a book like this goes under the radar of so many comic book readers and fans of the TV show. The 24 comic book is a slam dunk on all levels. If you aren't reading it you should start.

It's worth the cover price in story, art and of course IDW Publishing's superior formatting. In fact it's a steal. Just don't let Jack Bauer catch you.
