Nah. They're from Dimension 68-F even if Ghostbusters: The Video Game and IDW's background easter eggs validate them.

Indeed. Well, Ghostbusters: The Video Game is confirmed to occur in that universe and does reference Freddy vs Ghostbusters, making it official, though that game also occurs in the main universe of the Sanctum of Slime reality, so Ed Spengler exists in all three - Dimension Prime, Dimension 50-S and Dimension 68-F.Probably variants
Dimension Prime = Main universeBut what makes them not in the same universe though?

This game is said to be a sequel to the 1st film.
That's so cool! It also makes sense in the Ghostbusters universe, since A Christmas Carol is adapted in the animated series and comics. Scrooged is a modern retelling of A Christmas Carol with completely new characters, Answer The Call is a modern retelling of Ghostbusters with completely new characters, so the connection fits.I was 10 when Scrooged came out. My family did not see it until it was a 2nd run budget theater. But I wanted to see Cocoon : The Return instead. But my parents won of course. I probably did not know "the guy from Ghostbusters" was in it. But there he was with ghosts again. Plus like all versions of A Christmas Carol it's a time travel story. I loved it. I think it's the moment I became Bill Murray fan. Before that he was Peter Venkman. Took seeing him in other role to start to see him as an actor.
It's actually not just the two golfers though. Every single character in the first two pages who aren't a Ghostbuster or Lew is someone from Caddyshack. The two golfers might look familiar if you've seen Caddyshack... (Found it via someone posting it on Something Awful's comics forum and apologies if posted before!)
The Casper film has apparently other 3 direct to video sequels/prequels though I am not sure if they have some level of continuity or they are alternate universes
Also connects with the Transformers Multiverse and a Lego version of the first 2 movies universe and the 2016 reboot universe exist in the LEGO Multiverse of LEGO Dimensions (where the universes of Lego Batman (Video Game), Lego Batman (Movie) and The Lego Movie are also present)
OK, I read the casper wiki article on them and I also see why they can't be the same universe. But today I found out that there was also a animated show sequel of the film with the girl and her father from it: https://casper.fandom.com/wiki/The_Spooktacular_New_Adventures_of_Casper
I would remove the video game from the current timeline. It contradicts some elements that are in Afterlife. Spirits Unleashed might also technically be canon, but I doubt it will be mentioned in Afterlife, as that film will probably be about setting up the firehouse and re-establishing the Ghostbusters in NYC.
For the afterlife movie there's no timestamps for these.

I love how analytical and thorough you are with the timelines. Your knowledge is astounding and one of the main reasons I did the M:I Timeline.
Shouldn't this have 2024 in between (), cos the comics Will come out well... in 2024?
Could you guys remove these comments so the thread is a bit more neat and tidy and I don't have to start a new one? Perhaps @Blackbeard could? Also Will you ever do a timeline of the IDW comics and reboot expanded universe?
I can delete my messages for you Pro Bot!Could you guys remove these comments so the thread is a bit more neat and tidy and I don't have to start a new one? Perhaps @Blackbeard could?![]()
