Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (franchise) - Timelines

1987-1996 ANIMATED SERIES UNIVERSE
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(To be added)
When you go over this universe you should count only 2 (maybe 3) video games

Turtles In Time (SNES version)
And Shredders Revenge

The devs of Shredders Revenge seemed pretty adamant about it being canon and said this game was the first time Party Wagon was said in the cartoon continuity. It also references Turtles in Time SNES as canon because we see Rat Kings destroyed footski from that game during his boss fight. Turtles in Times timeline placement is a bit tricky it's probably towards the end of the series but before red skies, it's set in 1992 (arcade says 1991 but that's not the canon version). Shredders Revenge though is definitely set after red sky seasons due to showing how kraang rebuilt his body after it was destroyed in the finale, and the technodrome is still destroyed on Balarephon where it was left in red sky.

The newer Saturday Morning adventures comics are set directly before red sky according to the writer. It also implies Turtles Forever is set in the future due to Shredder summoning a future technodrome with it being the turtles forever one. This probably means Turtles Forever is at the end of the 87 timeline tbh. The comics also set themselves in 1989 because they have a newspaper for the 1989 New York Mayoral election during the election story they did with Chrome Dome. Which means the series probably starts in 1987, retconning the 1991 date from once upon a time machine. Tigerclaw appeared in a recent story where the Turtles enemies from past, present and future all get summoned and the only villain they don't recognize is Dregg from the red sky seasons and they don't say anything about tigerclaw so the events of the 2012 crossovers have probably already occured (I believe someone did a timeline video placing them in Season 2 and Season 3 respectively. The 2nd crossover with 2012 is definitely after that episode where they get turned into balloons though since it's mentioned in that crossover (wanted bebop and rock steady)

The 3rd possible game that's canon to the 87 cartoon is TMNT the Arcade game. The layout of the technodrome in the game is recreated in Shredders Revenge so it could be canon, but the technodrome is completely destroyed in it so it would be a little odd because there would be no explanation of how it gets restored to appear in the show after the events of the game.

P.S. there's an NES port of the TMNT Arcade game and then manual implies that version of the game is canon to the Live action films, taking place directly after the first film. It adds some alien bounty hunters to the canon of that universe along with Baxter Stockman, Bebop, Rocksteady and Kraang. But I guess those last 4 are also in the Power Rangers crossover comic and the Turtle Tracks online letters sequel to Next Mutation so not too big of a deal

Live action film timeline would go something like this

1989- TMNT
1989- TMNT 2: Arcade Game (NES port only)
1989- TMNT II: Secret of the Ooze
1993- TMNT III
1993- TMNT 2007 prequel comic
1993- TMNT 2007
1993- TMNT Smash-Up
1993- Power Rangers/TMNT
1993- Power Rangers/TMNT II
1993- Power Rangers/TMNT III
1998 or 1999- TMNT: The Next Mutation
1998 or 1999- Power Rangers In Space
Late 90s through the 2000s- TMNT Next Mutation Letters (these were posted online through a span of time and occur in real time as the turtles mention current events like 9/11 occasionally throughout.)

You kinda have to ignore what the director stated ages for the turtles are in the next mutation for everything to fit together, they're said to be 17-18 in Next Mutation but that's also what they're stated to be in TMNT 2007, but as far as I know it's not actually said in either of the media so you can kinda just ignore it I think. TMNT 2007 has to go before the PR crossover comics since Shredder is back to life in those already and with the entire typical TMNT rogues gallery
