007 Chronological Viewing Order

Honestly, as good a writer as Moore is, alot of the times his works are just too nihilistic/grimdark for me, to the point I usually prefer the adaptation over the original comic (IE: V for Vendetta)
 
Tonight I watched "Moonraker". Wow, Bond in space! It definitely delivered on that! I'll post my timeline findings on Monday as always. Absolutely crazy movie, but has a lot of charm. Unlike any 007 film so far.
 
My interpretation of it, not including adaptations apart from the Daniel Craig version of GoldenEye:

James Bond 007: The Duel
007: Racing [non-canon?]

I really want 007 Legends to be canon, it annoys me that Spectre destroys it so throughly.
 
OK so as promised, this past weekend I watched the Saturday morning cartoon movie called "Moonraker". I had fun with it. Bond in space! Space Marines with laser guns! You get the point. As for timeline stuff, here's what I was able to find during the madness.

At around the 30:28 mark, a California license plate registration date of JAN 78 can be seen. Vehicle registration renewal for the state of California is due once a year. This would place this film in 1977 at the earliest.

It's stated in the museum scene that 1520 was over 450 years ago, placing this film in the 1970s.

"This exquisite bowl was fashioned about 1520, over 450 years ago."

At the 01:29:35 Mark, James Bond's watch reads "12 02 WE" (Wednesday, December 2nd). This image is from a little bit before, but I couldn't find a better shot. Here is an article I found on this watch. It says "The digital screen is set to the exact same time and date as seen in the Seiko M354 user manual." Now, Wednesday December 2nd occurred in 1970, but that would place the events of this film years before it came out and we know this isn't the case due to the license plate placing this film to either 1977 or early 1978. However, this could be interpreted as February 12th, 1978 - but that did fall on a Sunday in the real world.

It can be seen snowing in Russia, indicating it's winter.

"The infamous Russian winter officially starts on 1 December and ends on the last day of February, although it is not uncommon in European Russia for snow to appear in October and last until April. By late December most of the country is covered by snow." - Source

Update: per @barryh

"Bond visits Rio de Janeiro during the carnival, which in 1977 was February 18th to 23rd."

So with that evidence, I think we can safely place "Moonraker" in January - February of 1978 since it must occur AFTER "The Spy Who Loved Me" due to continuity with that film.

Actually in 1978, carnival was February 3rd to 8th. Maybe we could interpret "12 02" as February 12th?

Not a bad idea. I'm cool with it since this is a fictional universe. I'll adjust the film to span from Jan - Feb, 1978. This actually works in favor of the JAN 78 plate earlier in the film.
