Ultimate X-Men: "X-Factor" arc
(takes place after "... Dangerous Game")
Entrepreneur and 'adult entertainer' Candy Southern launches X-Factor, a line of softcore 'mutant fetish' video productions, with the premise of mutants using their talents for 'recreational purposes'. Their biggest star is Sienna Blaze, whose manipulation of electrons in the human body can heighten pleasure centers.
Needless to say, Professor Xavier is concerned about what kind of effect this might have on mutants' public image, since family values groups are citing it as a convenient way of associating mutancy with a larger breakdown in moral values.
But things get far worse than imagined, when Blaze turns up dead in her apartment, the apparent victim of a hate-crime.
The 'senior class' goes in to investigate, and uncovers that Southern's operations are being funded by Cameron Hodge, an old family pal of Warren Worthington. Hodge recently inherited a vast fortune, and this appears to be his first major investment. Warren is assigned to confront Southern, regarding the whereabouts of Hodge, but things get complicated when Angel begins to give in to Southern's flirtatious charms (also upsetting Dazzler, who hates competition).
With a little subterfuge -- Shadowcat breaking and entering into X-Factor's studio, perhaps, under Xavier's telepathic guidance -- they discover that the whole operation is actually a sick scheme to round up mutants, turn them into porn celebrities, then eventually martyr them for profit, marketing it as genetic snuff kink.
Can the X-Men find a way to legally expose Hodge's plans? Or will they have to resort to force to stop him?
