..and I don't mean Classic like Tetris or Space Invaders.
Computer games have come a long way since their inception. I want to know what the key points in the evolution have been. what games even though they might be old are still worth playing?
My Examples might be:
i'm sure there are more.
Anyway - What are the sorts of games you go back and play? What is like the Watchmen for Comic book fans? What games are essential playing if you wanted to be really big on computer games.

My Examples might be:
- The Lucas Arts Games - monkey island, sam and max, day of the Tentacle
- Halo, Half-life, Goldeneye, Metal gear solid - you know these are classics
- Silent Hill 2 - This was just awsome scarey/weird good atmosphere, with good story to boot.
- Max Payne - just after the matrix came out and everyone went crazy for Bullet time.
- GTA III - like nothing else when it came out.
- I really liked "Beneath a Steel Sky" as it was quite moody and bleak
- Unreal Tournament and Counterstrike.
i'm sure there are more.
