Marvel Cinematic Universe - Timeline (Part 3)

Yes, I placed it in 2015 when I was doing the timeline because that's when he got his powers in the MCU. And the school year starts in September, so I placed it around there since it was originally named "Freshman Year."
IIRC, Peter started his school year in August in the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon.

It depends, but I placed it in August also because Spidey in the MCU becomes well known enough to be mentioned offhandedly by Luis at the end of Ant-Man 1.

Yeah, before the timeline came out, we had Ant-Man in October because of the date on Cross's phone, and Civil War in April because of the date on the parcel Stark receives at the end, which fit with Peter getting his powers 6 months ago. But the timeline now established Civil War is in June and Ant-Man in the previous August. So all we can say is that it's somewhere in between August and December 2015.

august 2015 fits with him being referenced by luis in ant-man, the start of his school year and as others pointed out kind of fits with nicos backstory, unless they are very blatant about it being set during some other year within the series it seems like a safe bet

Yeah the big take away from Ant Man, for a fact, being set in August 2015 and alluding to Spider-Man is the pillar to all this.

"6 months ago" is also a standard timeframe to say "not a full 12 months, but under that amount".

Remember the "Mother's Day is 6 months from now" line in Jessica Jones that wasn't accurate?

Honestly, my interest in YFNSM is pretty much a nothing burger. Initially, we were told it would be an origin story for MCU Peter, but then it became a "What If Norman Osborne mentored Peter instead of Tony Stark?" type of affair. Not to mention, the suit still looks like ass in all honesty, the cel-shaded artstyle is pretty crap-looking, and the fact that Peter gets his Spider bite due to Doctor Strange and Venom fighting through a portal...

Yeah, I might sit this one out, all things considered.
Again, people can :( to this, but I ain't budging from how I feel about YFNSM.

It could be worse. I got laugh reacts on FB for suggesting Gotham Knights was on the same Earth as Superman & Lois, I called it out and my comment got removed by the admin who warned me to "Stay positive or you'll be banned." Disregarding the backlash I was getting...

I honestly think the Ant-Man thing is something that has to be overlooked. If Civil War is June, I don't see Peter referring to it as being 6 months when in reality it would be closer to 10. Even if the Luis thing was originally meant to be a reference specifically to Peter, I don't see it working now without being a stretch. The wiki tried to fix this by having the end of Ant-Man in December. However, it's obvious the movie doesn't have that big a time jump.

I'm always of the belief that the simplest explanation is always the best.

But when you start believing the "6 months ago" estimate as exact, when that has a precedence in this universe as being flawed and inaccurate, then making the jump that Luis didn't mean Peter and it was some other web-swinger we'll ever see (despite the fact that Spider-Man reference was put in there INTENTIONALLY) - you've created more hurdles in this thought process.

To me, the stretch is not justifying the simplest explanation and assuming our headcanon, no matter how complicated, is the truth.

I honestly don't think it was specific enough that it has to be a Spider-Man reference and for me I feel like you're creating a hurdle in the reference of time just to make it work. The Jessica Jones thing is different as I believe fully well it was meant to be set around Fall 2018, but contradicting with Infinity War pushed it back to earlier in the year.

"One guy who swings and crawls on walls" - Luis

Must be Black Panther, right?

Because it's how my brain works.
I'm just saying there isn't any difference.

"We got a guy who jumps, we got a guy who swings, we got a guy who crawls up the walls" makes it sound like it's three different people. I'm not saying it wasn't meant to be a specific reference, but I believe Peter would have said he'd had his powers a year if we're going from August-June.

Regardless how we feel about MCU Spidey's origin date, this is an alternate timeline at the end of the day and I doubt the same means gave him his powers; which in this new cartoon seems to be from multiverse crap like Doctor Strange fighting She-Venom or whatever that was in promo photos. (The comic main events take place immediately after that moment, I'd imagine, then in the show it might time jump beyond the events of this 5-issue mini-series to a month later I guess.).

That said, August or September of 2015 for sure in the case of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man; until more clues are given to the exact month.

I'd personally lean more towards September just because the MCU has always had him start there, but I'm open to August if a majority would prefer it.
