So I was thinking and zods suit was just was left on the lexcorp construction building so why not lex luthor get his hands on it and make his own modifications and paint job and have that be his power armor. Just a thought since zods dead and lex luthors gonna be in the next movie.

That's not a bad idea. The suit could also have a Kryptonite like weakening effect on Superman in some way due to the Krypton technology.

I'm pretty sure they've had Lex Luthor in armor repeatedly in the comics, cartoons, etc.

I do agree that I'd rather them not take that route, at least in this movie. I'm guessing Luthor comes to see Superman after the destruction of Metropolis (maybe he even has a hand in rebuilding the city), and creates something (Metallo? Parasite? Doomsday?) to kill Superman. I bet Batman either stumbles upon this plan, or Lex Corps initially seeks the help of Wayne Enterprises in some capacity.

I agree to a point, but I see it as a natural evolution of Lex's quest to rid the world of Superman. Lex's main advantage is his intelligence, and when that alone doesn't suffice he uses that intelligence to create a suit that puts him on a somewhat equal footing with Superman physically.
