Just started reading these comics. Setting up for a good story so far. What's another good arc to read?

Batman: Death in the family

Ha got the title wrong. "Death of the family" that's what in reading.

I think once I've read this I'm gonna read knightfall. Adored dark knight rises so can't wait to get stuck into that.

Welcome!

I undertook Knightfall a few months ago and enjoyed it for the most part. I don't generally like 90s comics but it was better than most big 2 comics I've read from that period.

But it was a huge project. There were tons of books and it took a long time.

What's the best batman comic run you've read ?

It's the most recently concluded Grant Morrison run for me. He crammed everything into one great long storyline and did an amazing job defining (redefining?) the mythology of the character. Some of the concepts are mind-blowing.

Is that year one, dark knight returns etc? Not that clued up on it tbh. Been reading alot of classic batman and Spider-Man

Year One and Dark Knight Returns are both by Frank Miller and are fairly short (4 issues a piece, I believe?). Morrison's run ran about seven years, starting with Batman and Son, running through the Ghosts of Batman (or something like that), Batman RIP, Batman and Robin, and Batman Inc. It's a pretty long and tangled run. It had its low points but all in all, a pretty solid and extensive take on the character.

Also, if you're interested, the Frank Miller version if Batman is set in a different universe than the regular DC comics. Though Batman Year One counts both in the Miller-verse Batman and regular continuity. The Miller-verse includes, in chronological order:

Batman - Year One
All-Star Batman and Robin, the Boy Wonder
Spawn/Batman
Batman - The Dark Knight Returns
Batman - The Dark Knight Strikes Again

Year One and The Dark Knight Returns are the standouts, great stories. All-Star Batman is ok, though strange at times, but features a classic scene between Batman & Robin and Green Lantern that I found hilariously brilliant. TDK Strikes Again was just...weird. Spawn/Batman was just a result of the 90's "lets crossover everything with everything" syndrome, and isn't required reading, but does offer hints at how Batman made a certain set of gloves he uses to kick Superman's ass in TDKR.

All are available in trades, though the last issue of AS Batman and Robin wasn't collected so you'd have to hunt down the individual issue. You'll probably like TDKR as not only is it a great story, but is apparently being used as an influence or blueprint for the Batman vs. Superman movie that's coming out (though I expect Batman will be 10-20 years younger in the movie versus his age in that comic).

Yes, although the 4 issue of Dark Knight Returns are something like 50-60 pages each. Both are excellent and worth tracking down.

All-Star Batman & Robin The Boy Wonder and Dark Knight Strikes again, not so much, but they are interesting as part of that universe.

Spawn/Batman (the Image Comics one - there was also a crossover called War Devil published by DC at the same time which was done by Chuck Dixon and Klaus Janson) was pretty awful.

Honestly, if you like Death of the Family I recommend reading the rest of Snyders New 52 Batman title. The first two arcs about the court of owls were both really good.

Also, I highly recommend The Long Halloween, and Batman the animated series if you are interested in Batman outside of comics. The B:TAS film Mask of the Phantasm is as good as any Batman comic I have read.

Thanks to you all for the fantastic replies. As you can probably tell I'm very new to comics but really enthusiastic about reading them.

I enjoyed Court Of The Owls more so than Death .
