Charles and Mystique don’t ever actually share any scenes together in the og trilogy so it’s really not that big of a deal. There’s a brief moment in x2 when they are in the same room but Charles is in a trance.

It’s kinda odd because in the movie he’s not actually running an election campaign unless I missed something. But yeah obviously they were just gonna use the release year. Senator’s do sometimes run for elections during midterms though so 2002 still works for that aspect
