I think Morbious would work, starts to tie in the supernatural along side Dr. Strange. Could be a High School frenemy, kid smart enough to reverse engineer the Spider Bite but it backfires. Good lead in for others: Blade, Black Cat, Kraven.

I can settle for disgruntled pigmy shrews.

My vote is to print off every single page and store it all on acid free paper, kept in a limestone cavern 5 miles underground, guarded round the clock by armed mercenaries and their trained, killer, attack wombats.
