Next season, we'll meet a character named Nietzsche, who will suffer all sorts of near-fatal catastrophes, but be made stronger after surviving each one.

Des' middle name is David too(David Hume).

Also worth mentioning is Kate Austin, although her views on legal philosophy seem to be the opposite of John Austin's, and the fact that Locke's father is named Anthony Cooper(after the real Locke's mentor, Anthony Ashley-Cooper).

I'm surprized they didn't name Eyepatch after Nietzsche. Actually... maybe they still will.

They're more like statues as they're incredibly detailed, and hardly move at all, and usually must be affixed to the diorama piece they come with to stand on its own...but they're still badass!

I like the Locke and Charlie figs...they look the most like their real-life counter-parts.
 
So I read that they're talking about airing Season 4 of Lost like 24 does: starting to air in January 2008 and airing straight through May with no repeats. I could live with that...better than splitting it up into two halves like this season (or more accurately, one fourth and three fourths).

Also, next week's episode about Nikki and Paulo, "Expose", is supposed to reveal a major part of the island mythology...what that is I'm not sure.
 
I've heard that, too, about Season 4. I think that's fine as long as they can keep their promise. That way, I'm sure, allows them to plan their storytelling a bit better, anyway...

And they should return the show to the 9 o' clock time slot.

I'm looking forward to next week with Nikki and Paulo and all, but I'm still anxious to see tonight's... It's gonna be a good one, I can tell.
 
SWEEEET episode.

Awesome mind warfare between John and Ben. And the ending was flippin' crazy. I await next week with eagerness.

I enjoyed this episode, except for how much Jack seems to have joined with the others and how Locke didn't ask Ben questions like "why are you people here or what the hell is the balck smoke?" but I guess he doesnt care how. I didnt expect for his dad to push out the window.
 
I do not know if this possibility has been discussed in this thread yet, or if there has been possible speculation elsewhere.

But something occured to me during tonight's episode.

Locke's father (I'll call him Anthony Cooper; unsure if this is his real name or an assumed name) is a con man. As a con man, he takes on many fake names. In tonight's episode, he moves in on a woman, who apparently has a substantial amount of money.

Now, try to follow me here.
In the first season of LOST, we learned that "Sawyer" is in fact NOT Sawyer's real name, but an assumed name taken from the man who conned his mother, leading his father to murder her and then take his own life.

In an episode that I cannot pinpoint at the moment, both Locke and Sawyer, along with some others, are trekking through the jungle. By this time, Locke knows that Sawyer's real name is in fact not Sawyer.
Sawyer calls Locke "Mr. Clean". Locke then says "Why did you pick that name?"
Sawyer replies "It was a joke...you're bald?" or something like that.
Locke says in return "No, not that. Sawyer. Why do you call yourself Sawyer?"
Sawyer doesn't reveal anything about his story to Locke, but asks why he wants to know. Locke simply replies "Just curious."

I believe that Anthony Cooper, John Locke's father, IS "Mr. Sawyer" the confidance man responsible for the ruined childhood of the man that now calls himself "Sawyer".
At some point, Locke must have learned that one of Cooper's assumed names was "Sawyer", prompting him to ask 815's Sawyer why he chose the name, since, in my opinion, it is an uncommon name.

Anthony Cooper has ruined not only Locke's life, but Sawyer's as well.
I have 98% confidence this is right.
Man I hope this hasn't really been discussed before, like, anywhere.

That makes a LOT of sense. I think once we get closer to the end game, we're going to realize the character's pasts are tied together much more than we originally thought, and that these connections are the key as to why they're on the island.

I hate Locke. He's such a douche.

I've said that since the first season.

Tonight's episode was perfect. The best part was that before the episode we were at the dinner table speculating on what the episode would be about and I said I was really in the mood for a Locke ep tonight. After that, we started talking about how we all figured that the next Locke ep, whether it aired tonight or months from now, would probably be the one where we find out how he became parapellegic in the first place.

I got both my wishes granted.:D
 
This might have been the best episode this season.

I can't wait until next week. Everytime they explain something about the others, I want to learn more. Locke was at his prime in this episode.

And, well, probably would have left the dock sneakier like.

I was high on the Hawkins part of last week's Jericho.

And I agree, Cooper is "Sawyer."

It looks as if this season we get all the answers.

Also, does anyone remember the times the city of Tallahassee has been mentioned before on the show? Not sure if its a big deal or an actual connection (but it probably is), but Sawyer mentioned in the first season he got his STD in Tallahassee and Kate mentioned she was heading to Tallahassee in one of her flashbacks...I can't remember anything more specific, but I doubt its merely coincidence, especially given the episode name trumpets the Tallahassee mention.

One of the extras on the season two dvd set, has a giant web of lost connection thought characters outside the island. There is one between Sawyer and Locke that shows that scene, there are some other mystery ones too.
