The DCU Reboot costume redesign thread

Let's face it, most of the new DCU costumes suck. Everyone is welcome to put in their own changes.


I'll start off, with the First Hero, Superman.

all I can think of is Frank Quietly's Ultraman design from Earth 2. Its the sphere-belt things that's doing it.

I'd hit that.

Yeah, I liked the simplicity of that, so I borrowed heavily from it.

Would the circles be yellow?

I really like how the cape ties into the S. It really draws the eye to the symbol and not his face.

Yeah, that was my biggest problem with the Returns costume. The shield should be large, because that's what he is, larger than life, and as you said, it helps draw your eyes from his face.

Yes, similar to on Lois' costume in All-Star Superman.

Similar to the Eradicator costume in Death/Return of Superman - I LOVED that costume.

I hate to admit this, I completely forgot about him.



Edit: I'm probably going to do Superboy and Supergirl tonight, then I'm probably going to disappear for a while playing Alice. then I might drop flat colors on them, and group the colored pieces by family.

I liked the black/dark blue going down the sides, too.

Did up Kon-El. Honestly, he wasn't broken, so I'm not sure why they "fixed his look". I made some tweaks to his t-shirt. It's similar to Eradicator's in pattern, with red shoulders, black sides and sleeves, with a blue strip under the shield.

Here's my attempt at a Superman Redesign. Mainly just getting rid of the trunks. I love that they're doing that but they went about it all wrong.


It should be noted not all of this is mine. I just did a color change, added the belt area and added someone else's S design and yellow around the cape, etc..

Also a Wonder Woman design I did a while ago. I wanted her costume to have a ancient greek warrior aspect and still look a bit modern

For several millennia, Krypton existed as a successful world of science-minded individuals, able to devote their idyllic lives to research or the arts thanks to advancements in medicine, cloning, and genetics that made them effectively immortal. But as years of isolationism and general cultural stagnation wore on, a rogue faction of disaffected Kryptonians decided to defy their leaders and set off to find a new world to call their own, eventually colonizing a world in the neighboring sector named Khera. While the Kryptonians were willing to peacefully coexist with their new Kheribum brethren, the Kheribum eventually came to the conclusion that their homeworld was being wasted on the Kryptonians and that they ought to reclaim it. War broke out between the two planets, eventually leading to the fall of Krypton not at the hands of the Kheribum, but at the hands of the Sun Eater nobody noticed on course for Rao. Two renowned Kryptonian scientists, Jor and Zor of the House of El, crafted pods with the intention of sending both their children and the seeds of Kryptonian life onward to Kheribum, hoping their wayward brethren would not reject their gift and that a small part of Krypton would live on. Unfortunately, the destruction of Rao and Krypton created a gravity wake that threw the pods off course and they eventually came to land on the third planet orbiting a yellow star…

Superman: Raised by the Kents in Smallville, Kansas, Kal-El knew nothing of his heritage until his teens when he discovered his pod in his parents' root cellar. Easily adapting to the changing state of worldwide media - all of which is still lightyears behind Kryptonian technology - 'CK' is the primary contributor to one of the Internet's most visited blogs, where he covers the latest events in superheroism and villainy.

Power Girl: Rendered unconscious by Zor-El and placed in the same pod as her daughter Kara, Alura-El struggles to find her place in a world so contrary to the one she grew up in. Adding to her difficulties is the fact that her pod took a different course to Earth, landing twenty-one years after Kal-El's and leaving her close to the same apparent physical age as her nephew. Eventually she adopts the name Karen Starr and begins working to uplift Earth by releasing bits of Kryptonian technology through a company called Starr Labs, while protecting her new home beside Kal-El and even making time for a little romance with a charming billionaire named Bruce Wayne…

Superboy: While not a natural member of the House of El, Kon-El was welcomed into the family by both Kal and Alura when the Lexcorp lab he was being grown in was raided by the Justice League of America. When not in school with his 'cousin' Kara, he spends his time working with Kal and Alura to master his blossoming powers and occasionally pitching in as Superboy when needed.

Supergirl: Fifteen-years-old at the time of her world's demise, Kara-El also finds herself uncertain in an alien world but her youth allows her to unlearn what she has learned and adapt to Earth far more easily than her mother. Despite her already advanced knowledge, Kara splits her days between attending high school in Metropolis, fighting crime as Supergirl, and spending time with her best friends Megan and Stephanie.

I like the reworked Power Girl design.
