Victor Von Doom
Fist of teh Internets.
So #102 is a far cry better than 101..........but considering the fact that I would rather wipe my *** with #101 and then light it on fire rather than view a single page of the issue---being better than #101 isn't that great of an accomplishment.
Synopsis
We open with the F4 pleading with Fury to let Peter go. Fury basically tells them to shut up and go color. Peter chimes in and tells the F4 to let it go---it's over.
Then outta nowhere SpiderWoman jumps thru the crowd, grabs Peter and escapes with him. S.H.I.E.L.D soldiers and Johnny Storm try to follow---but she loses them. She frees Peter from his constraints and tells him to follow her.
They hitch a ride ontop a truck and we begin the standard "back and Forth Bendis" dialogue. Peter asks who she is and she unmasks. SpiderWoman is revealed to be a "clone" (I know E hates the specifics of that word but bear with me) of Peter. Ultimate SpiderWoman is the UU equivelant to X-23. What a shock.
She fills Peter in on what's going on.....at least with her. We then get a flashback of SpiderWoman's memories. Ben Reilly is speaking to her. The scene is done in FPS kinda like when they were creating Robocop. We get the backstory of Ben being arrested after the whole Carnage ordeal and while Conners is in jail for a while---the govt released Ben because he still had a smaple of Peter's blood and Conner's notes. Basically he was recruited by the govt to make an army of spider-powered soldiers.......the next version of the Super Soldier Serum.
Now since she's a clone of Peter---she has all his memories of being a boy. But since that ain't gonna work they're gonna bring in a psychic and wipe her mind and giver her a new identity. She will known as Special Agent Jessica Drew.
After the flashback we see Jessica and Peter sitting on the truck and then we're treated to the classic "I'M FREAKING OUT HERE!" outburst by Peter......but then Jessica does it too. So yeah.....Freak Out x2. Peter then asks where the costume came from.
Another flashback reveals that it was given to her by the govt. I guess she was in some training exercise and then she was introduced to the psychic that was gonna wipe her mind---Cassandra Webb. But before she can wipe her mind, an explosion goes off down the hall and we see that Carnage is loose (the doctors call it the Stacy Experiment). Carnage escapes---but as he escapes the power goes off and all the other Spider Clones are released from holding cells. They all have Peter's memory too---so they naturally freak out and run to save MJ (even though she's not in danger at the moment). A funny thing to note is that the six-armed Spider actually has black eyes and furry face like Man-Spider. Mildly cool---but ultimately lame. So all the clones are on the loose.
We then cut back to the truck and Jessica tells Peter that they're back where this all started. They jump off the truck and we see them standing in front of OsCorp.
Inside we see that She-Wolf/MJ has knocked out Man-Spider and is about to attack Scarface Peter. There's a few panels of the Spider people jumping around all nimbly and whatnot---but it all ends when Real Peter stands between MJ and her prey. MJ recognizes him and calms down. Then all of a sudden she transforms back to regular MJ and faints. Scarface is still crazy and rambling about how now she can protect herself. Peter kicks the crap out of Scarface and starts screaming questions like "where did he get the Oz from?" "how did he do it?" blah blah blah. We then see a little word bubble at the bottom of the panel coming from some mystery person claiming that Scarface got it "from me...."
The next panel shows that the mystery speaker is Doc Ock.
To be continued........
2.5/5
So we finally get some answers but there's still a lot left up in the air.
The list goes on......but quite honestly......now that Osborn isn't behind all this---I don't really care.
Like I said---2.5 because some of the dialogue was pretty smart and not all "questiony" and it wasn't a bad issue in general....just falling short of expectations.
Meh...........hurry up with this arc and get to a new creative team.

- How does Peter's dad play into all this?
- What happened to Carnage?
- What about Aunt May?
- What about MJ?
