Content and new features
From Wiki:
Director Katsuhiro Harada (who also directed Tekken 5) said that Tekken 6 will retain all of the elements from Tekken 5 and Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection that were well-received by fans. He also said that the stages will be bigger and will have more interactivity and the character customization feature will be more involved with gameplay.

  • In Tekken 6, every frame animation for every character has been changed.
  • In Tekken 6, some stages are multi-tiered with new stage features and has daylight/nighttime transitions depending on stage.
  • Tekken 6 will have an online versus multiplayer mode.
  • The customization system from Tekken 5 returns with improved options and more items in Tekken 6. You can switch tops and bottoms between available character costumes, as well as substitute alternate pieces. Common options for all characters include various items (star-shaped sunglasses, twin swords) and options for 'no gloves' or 'no shoes'. There are also character-specific items and pieces, as well as special items that unlock Item Moves once equipped.
  • Tekken 6 adds a new "rage" system, which gives characters more power in a same way that charge techniques do, and gets automatically activated when the character's vitality gets low. When it is activated, a red energy field surrounds the character and their health bar starts to flicker in red.
  • Tekken 6 also introduces "item moves", with which a character uses an item to attack the opponent (for example, Bryan Fury uses a shotgun, Anna Williams kicks one of her shoes, Ling Xiaoyu attacks others with a pair of neko gloves, and Asuka Kazama uses a paper fan).
  • Tekken 6 introduces a new "bounce" system, after moves that knock the opponent down in juggles and they can not tech roll. A new "bounce" comes into play, extending juggle possibilities.
  • Tekken 6 has an increased health bar compared to the previous games, due to new features stated above which deplete a lot of health.

Characters
Harada has stated that Tekken 6 will boast the greatest number of characters ever seen in a Tekken game with a total of 40 characters. According to Namco, virtually all of the Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection characters will be returning with new additional characters.

As of November 2007, five new characters have been confirmed. The first character, Zafina, is a female who will have moves Harada likened to that of a "spider" and who enters the tournament to prevent the clash of the "two evil stars." The second character, Leo, is a German who is intended to be a character which can be played by beginners and experienced players alike. The death of Leo's mother prompts Leo to begin investigating the Mishima Zaibatsu. The third character, Miguel, is a Spaniard with a passion for fighting, but no real discipline. Miguel wants to exact revenge upon the death of his sister at her wedding. The fourth character, Bob, is an American who is known as a martial arts genius. Due to being unable to defeat larger opponents however, he disappeared from the fighting world, determined to increase his weight and power while still maintaining speed. Bob enters The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 to test his new skills. Azazel is the final boss of the game. Azazel's story is said to be related with Zafina and Julia Chang's story in Tekken 6 and the confrontation between Jin Kazama and his father Kazuya Mishima. NANCY-MIS47J is a hidden sub-boss, whose story is also unknown.

Bob

Fighting Style: American Kenpo
Country: USA
Age: 27

Bob is a fighter who hails from America as a martial arts legend. However, due to being unable to defeat larger opponents, Bob disappears from the fighting world and remains in hiding for a few years, with many wondering about his whereabouts.

With The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 drawing near, Bob finally returns, and stuns everyone with his new figure, that of a dangerously obese man. Though Bob claims to have engineered his body to increase his weight and strength while maintaining his speed, few believe him and most of his fans lose their faith and respect for him.

In order to test his new power and regain his popularity, Bob enters The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6.

Leo
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leo_%28Tekken%29
Fighting Style: Hakkyoku-Ken
Country: Germany
Age: 19

Leo is the child of a world known male spelunker and a top female executive of the biotech firm, G Corporation.

Leo's father disappeared during an exploration when Leo was a child, but even so, Leo strove to become just like him. Leo grew up to be a straight and narrow person, but Leo's happy days came to an abrupt end when Leo's mother was killed.

Saddened by the tragic event, Leo shut everyone out. Some time later, the police inconclusively ended the murder investigation without explanation. Leo continued the investigation. Not long after starting this mission, Leo discovers the existence of a person who is regarded as a hero of the G Corporation - a man by the name of Kazuya Mishima. Suspecting him of committing the murder, Leo seeks revenge but finds it impossible to get near Kazuya due to his newly acquired status within the G Corporation.

However, Leo heard news of The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 being held by the Mishima Financial Group. Finding out that Kazuya would be participating in it, Leo followed suit, thinking that it's the only chance for revenge.

Miguel Caballero Rojo
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miguel_Caballero_Rojo
Fighting Style: Zipota and Garyuno Kenka Kakutou-waza / Brawling
Country: Spain
Age: 26

According to his character page on the official Tekken website, Miguel is depcited as an undisciplined Spaniard with a passion for fighting, which often brought him into conflict with his parents, causing him to leave home at age fifteen.

Despite his negative side, Miguel is shown to be capable of love, especially in the case of his sister, whom he cares for more than anything in the entire world. His sister would visit him often behind their parents' back to make him happy, until one day when she informs him of her impending marriage. Miguel is baffled at the news and considers killing his future brother-in-law, but decides against it in order to avoid breaking his sister's heart.

On the wedding day, Miguel watches the ceremony with regret from outside the church, until it is unexpectedly attacked by a fleet of planes and blown to smithereens before Miguel's eyes. Miguel searches for his sister, only to find her blood-drenched corpse.

Miguel's investigations lead him to realise that the attack was ordered by the Mishima Zaibatsu, and driven by anger, he enters the recently announced King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 to exact revenge on the Zaibatsu's CEO, Jin Kazama.

Zafina
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zafina
Fighting Style: Ancient Assassination/Harada(Spider Movement)
Country: Unknown
Age: 23

Zafina, who has great spiritual powers, was born to a group of spiritual warriors with an ancient past. She appears to be Egyptian since you can see the 2 huge statues of Rah, at the arcade intro. But her status is still unknown

Since childhood, Zafina was raised to be a protector of an imperial tomb. Several years ago, a foreign army attacked the imperial tomb she and her group were protecting, and Zafina single handedly wiped every single one of them out. Since then, the group's guru appointed her to be its sole assassin.

In her public life, she uses her spiritual powers as an astrologist, but recently she can only see evil omens, and her premonitions grow more and more intense day by day. Seeking to understand the meaning behind all of this, Zafina sought the advice of her guru, and he began to tell her an ancient tale passed down from generation to generation only to a select few. According to the tale, two evil stars will shake the world when they come into contact, and, inevitably, the two will unite with the sealed ancient evil being protected by her group, destroying the world. Zafina considered the meaning behind the guru's tale and her premonitions well.

Setting out on a course that took her far east, to the place the evil stars were believed to be gathering, she journeyed with the intentions of destroying them.

Jack-6
Jane sucessfully restored Jack-5's memory at the completion of the 5th King of Iron Fist Tournament. It was not long until the Mishima Zaibatsu decided to make their own Jack model, which has been built with 10 times the power of Jack 5. The new G-Corporation leader Kazuya Mishima also demanded a new Jack model eventually creating Jack-6. They decided to test Jack 6 in the King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 to destroy the Mishima Zaibatsu.

Azazel (final boss)
Little is known about Azazel's history, other than that he is the embodiment of the ultimate evil guarded in a tomb by Zafina, set to be released after the clash of "two evil stars" (Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama).

Azazel looks much like the Egyptian god Anubis, with blue-gray skin, a large, spiked tail used for attacking, and huge spikes of ice/crystal growing out of his forearms. He also wears an Egyptian ceremonial headdress and loincloth.

Like many supernatural entities before him, Azazel appears to have the advantage of superpowered abilities over his opponents. These include a powerful stun attack (similar to Jinpachi Mishima), and eye lasers (similar to Devil and Angel). He also appears to have the ability to summon boulders from the ground and set them on his opponents. He can also summon scarabs made of ice to attack opponents and, when a part of his body gets destroyed after taking too much damage, heal himself.

They should do a full blown Soul Calibur/Tekken crossover

it would be wicked

question, the Yoshimitsu in SC is he the same guy as in Tekken?

Not exactly. SC Yoshi has been said to be sort of an "ancestor" of TK Yoshi. SC Yoshi, who lives way in the past, is a member of the Manji Clan. TK Yoshi, who most likely lives in 2015 (judging by Asuka Kazama's jacket in Tekken 5), is a member of the now-defunct Manji Clan.

Either way, they're both badass ninjas.

Not before we get the dream fighting game.

We have had Mario & Sonic together. Now it's time for Mortal Kombat vs Street fighter

I'm glad Law and Paul are back, they rock.

I thought Yoshi was just an ageless alien or something.

It says on Wikipedia that Yoshimitsu was 1055 years old at the start of the first Tekken, which I think is a load of bull**** because I've never seen his age listed anywhere else and it hasn't been confirmed by Namco. However, going with Wiki's theory, Yoshimitsu is 1074 in Tekken 3, which would make him 1076 in Tekken 4 and Tekken 5 (Paul Phoenix was 48 in Tekken 4 and 5, just subtract his Tekken 3 age from that and you've got 2 years; I used Paul as a reference because he's one of the only characters who's appeared in all Tekkens and had his age revealed). Tekken 5 presumably takes place in 2015 (this is just based on Asuka Kazama's jacket from Tekken 5, as well as the fact that everything in the video game looks futuristic). Mitsurugi is 29 years old in the Soul series, and was born in 1562. That means that the entire Soul series takes place in 1591, give or take a few years. Mitsurugi first appears in Soul Edge. Yoshimitsu first appears in its sequel, Soul Calibur. This makes it plausible for Tekken Yoshimitsu to be the same dude as Soul Calibur Yoshimitsu (though it hasn't been confirmed by Namco). This would make Yoshimitsu about 424 years old in Soul Calibur. Now, both incarnations of Yoshimitsu were born on Mt. Fuji in Japan, both have the same blood type (O), both are part-artificial, both have swords (though Tekken Yoshimitsu's sword is made of energy), both are leaders of the Manji clan (Soul Calibur Yoshimitsu is described as being "the first" leader of the clan), and I'm not sure if both have the same height and weight. But I think it's highly possible that they're the same dude.

TK/SC is far more likely since they're both made by Namco-Bandai

I doubt a real MK/SF crossover will ever happen though, It would be cool but neither of the company's have the clout anymore to have something like that pulled off.

Hell naw! He's a cybernetic ninja!

SON OF A *****! Elsewhere on Wikipedia, it says:
He was 65 years old in Tekken 2 from some Japanese Tekken 2 guidebook. While some sources state his age is over 9000.

Also, it should be noted from my other post that Yoshimitsu's sword wasn't depicted as a "lightsaber" until Tekken 3. Originally it was just a katana like Soul Calibur Yoshi.

I'm very underwhelmed with the final boss.

Sounds like Ogre all over again. The best Tekken games have one of the Mishima clan as the final boss.

New info (some of this I already posted):
Director Katsuhiro Harada (who also directed Tekken 5) said that Tekken 6 will retain all of the elements from Tekken 5 and Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection that were well-received by fans. He also said that the stages will be bigger and will have more interactivity and the character customization feature will be more involved with gameplay.

In Tekken 6, every frame animation for every character has been changed.

In Tekken 6, some stages are multi-tiered like Cemetery and Fallen Colony with new stage features and has daylight/night-time transitions (Temple Grounds) depending on the stage.

Tekken 6 will have an online versus multiplayer mode.

The customization system from Tekken 5 returns with improved options and more items in Tekken 6. The player is able to switch tops and bottoms between available character costumes, as well as substitute alternate pieces. There are common options shared by many or all characters including various items like glasses, hats, decorative swords, a Japanese banner and options for 'bare hands' or 'bare feet'. There are also character-specific items and pieces, as well as special items that unlock Item Moves once equipped.

Tekken 6 adds a new "rage" system, which gives characters more power when the character's vitality gets low. When it is activated, a red energy field surrounds the character and their health bar starts to flicker in red.

Tekken 6 also introduces "item moves", with which a character uses an item to attack the opponent (for example, Bryan Fury uses a shotgun, Anna Williams kicks off one of her shoes, Ling Xiaoyu attacks others with a pair of mittens, Nina Williams uppercuts with a scalpel, Asuka Kazama uses a paper fan, and Marshall Law whips around his nunchaku).

Tekken 6 introduces a new system named "bounce" system; after moves that knock the opponent down in juggles, the opponent cannot tech roll. A new bound comes into play, extending juggle possibilities.

Tekken 6 has an increased health bar compared to the previous games, due to new features stated above which deplete a lot of health.

Harada has stated that Tekken 6 will boast the greatest number of characters ever seen in a Tekken game with a total of 41 characters. According to Namco, virtually all of the Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection characters will be returning (except Jinpachi Mishima) with new additional characters.

The trailer was awesome.

Hwoarang has always been my favorite character. I can't wait to use him again.
